Kali puja class day 8 Pages 72-80

Dear All,

Hopefully you have all had a chance to look over the

establishment of the pot and prana pratishtha. After the pot has been

established we recite the Adya Stotram.

Page 72-77 Adya Stotram

The Song of the Foremost

Recite the Adya Strotam

(Please read through the English.)

If you don't have alot of time, this is a good

stotram to recite.

This stotram describes the different forms of Kali as

well as the many benefits of reciting it.

Page 78-Visesarghya (establishment of the conch shell

offering)

Remember that an arghya is an object of value which

conveys the sincerity of our devotion.

The establishment of the conch shell is done in the

same way as the establishment of the samanyarghya(the

ordinary water on pages 41-44 of the Kali puja book)

Shree Maa and Swamiji establish their conch shell on

the left side of the altar and the samanyarghya is

established on the right side of the altar. The pot

can be established in the middle of the altar.

1. Draw a dot(bindu) - one point of creation

2. Draw a triangle-all of the threes

3. Draw a circle around the triangle-circle of

creation

4. Draw a square- 4 aspirations of life-dharma, kama,

artha, moksha

5. Place 4 grains of rice on the yantra and recite the

four mantras:

om adharasaktaye namah, om kurmmaya namah, om anantaya

namah, on prthivyai namah.

6. Place the conch shell on top of the bindu in the

center of the yantra while saying "PHAT".

NOTE: The conch shell sits in a special holder which

is situated about one inch above the altar.

7.Fill the conch shell with water while chanting the

mantra: om gange ca jamune......

8. Offer tulsi leaves(fresh basil or dried) into the

water and recite tulsi mantra

9. Offer three flowers into the water pot with the

mantras to the sun, moon and fire.

(you can use whole flowers or petals.)

10. Offer one whole flower when you say : ete

gandhapushpe HUM

Swamiji offers one bigger flower for this mantra. Usually it is a special flower different from the others which are carnations.

At the end of the day after the evening arati, we use this special flower from the conch shell and sprinkle water from it on top of

everyone's head and say"Om shanti."

11. Wave hands in matsya, dhenu and ankush mudras

while chanting the mantra:

om gange ca jamune......

(See pictures of hand mudras in back of the Kali Puja

book pages 257-259

12. Sprinkle water over all the articles to be

offered, then throw some drops of water over your

shoulder while repeating the mantra:

"amritam kuru swaahaa"

This ends Kali puja class day 8. Thanks for your

interest.

Good luck to you all. Please don't hesitate to ask

questions.

Om kring kalyai namah!
