Ramana Maharshi group and Atma Vichara group

Dear all,

some of you may have been a member of Ramana Maharshi group (which

was

originally Miles group) and Atma Vichara group (which was mine).

Both

lists have been deleted independently of each other.

I deleted Atma Vichara Group last Saturday evening without a parting

message as I felt there is

no point to continue with it anymore and there was also no active

participation of members. I don't think anyone will feel the loss so

much. Perhaps a parting message should have been posted. I

appologize if its sudden disappearance gave troubles to someone.

Ramana Maharshi-list was also deleted as it has become most

questionable to continue the line it had taken since a longer span

of

time. But - to make it clear - it was not Miles who did it. This may

be important for some to know. Miles was at this time no member of

the list anymore. More I may not say - and it may suffice to settle

some questions.

For those who feel a bit homeless and would like to join a new

Ramana-

dedicated place - there is a new small group on google:

http://groups.google.comRamanaMaharshi

Also Acalayoga-forum is a fine place:

http://acalayoga.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi

Kind Regards

Gabriele

Thanks Gabriele for letting us know. I think the RamanaMaharshi list was

quite large. Too bad that the members received no notice that it was

going to be deleted.

Hope all is well with moderators and members.

Love to all

Thank you, Harsha - all is well with the moderators - so far I know.

To members which have been suddenly "thrown out" without a warning

notice or letting know - we apologize sincerely! Trust all is well

with them also.

I forgot to mention Miles "The Sage"-list, which always went in

parallels to the big Ramana Maharshi-list and was a silent place.

This is still alive and also may serve as a most valid alternative.

To make a new start now is perhaps a big chance, so we shall look

ahead - not back.

Dear Gabriele,

I am sorry to hear that the Ramana Marharshi group was cancelled. I

had been a member for years, and feel it is a part of my family.

For those who are interested, I started a related group,

PracticeofSelfInquiry/

All are welcome.

Dear Gabriele and Richard,

You are both wonderful people. Why not be a little more active in your

communications right here in ?

I wish you would.

Peace and love,

*Good point Michael. We are also a mighty Sri Ramana Group. But we are

modeled after Sri Ramanashram, where anything and everything was open to

discussion with Sri Ramana including food recipes, health issues, Atma

Vichara (of course), yoga, meditation, general human problems, arts,

poetry, country music, etc. Sri Ramana used to say that the same issues

and problems that exist in life also exist in the Ashram (Ramanashram).

That's how things go. Where can we run away to?

Give me bliss but let me not run too fast away from gossip!

I can walk away slowly at my own pace with my ears picking up a little

bit by themselves.

Love to all

Namaste,

I had real problems with those groups as they were so Bhakti-Bhakti

oriented, no real Ajativada, or Advaita discussion was entertained

really. Most of the members seem to worship Ramana in a way he never

would have taught himself.

Also they all believed he was still 'around' in his subtle body

somehow, when as a Mukta that had dropped the body nothing

about 'Ramana' material or subtle could possibly exist......Only The

Self........ONS.Tony

Namaste,

Yes Muktas 'tolerate' all kinds of different Bhakti from those that

are not mentally inclined to the complete Advaita. Ramana himself

has said as much himself. My point was that he never taught as part

of his philosophy that people should worship his form after his

death--I don't think so anyway. I wrote Bhakti-Bhakti to illustrate

what I was explaining, and that I had posts deleted that were

completely in line with Ramana's teaching, that's where I got them.

I never did see the cult that formed around him after his Samadhi as

being what he taught. It really indicates that most of those Ramana

Worshiping Bhaktas didn't absorb the teaching of 'Who am I?'.

Worshiping his form subtle or no, might well as be any form, that is

used in transference of an image to a person's own higher Self.

Most took the Bhakti far beyond the concentration stage, and I found

it very strange, considering what he taught. Even stranger was the

cult type 'censorship' that arose to protect this particular

preliminary path and behaviour.

It just seemed incongrous to me that such dualists from the West,

particularly, would choose such an Advaitin to worship, considering

the amount of other gurus and pictures

available..........ONS...Tony.

Dear Gabriele and all,

With the RamanaMaharshi list and Atma Vichara list suddenly gone I

have rejoined here. Good to 'see' you and other familiar names are

here too. I think for many of us there was a real sense of 'family'

on the RamanaMaharshi list, and it is a puzzle to me that a simple

courtesy of at least informing members was beyond those who deleted

the list.

I look forward to reflecting on exchanges between members in this

group and getting to know the good people here.

best wishes to you and all at

Dearest Peter,

I am glad you are here. Bhagavan's devotees are like a family.

Like you, I was also puzzled why the RamanaMaharshi list disappeared

suddenly. However, we have all accepted that it has happened.

Also, the kind moderator of RamanaMaharshi list Gabriele has written to

us. Miles Wright, our dear brother and devotee in Bhagavan who was the

original founder of the RamanaMaharshi list and I have been in touch.

Miles, as many of you know, is a unique and a special devotee in that

his knowledge of Bhagavan's teachings and works and Sanskrit is

comprehensive. He is a treasure for Bhagavan's devotees and also has

such a beautiful and warm disposition. By his actions and speech of

authenticity and clear understanding, he is a role model for all of us.

I have invited our brother Miles to this list as he is part of

Bhagavan's family of devotees. I personally feel very good and comforted

seeing Miles name on the screen. Of course, we can never impose on

anyone and insist that they join and send our love regardless of that.

There are many wise and wonderful people on this list and the list has

its own personality which does not suit everyone. We do allow much more

free flow of thinking, discussion, and at times even arguments and humor

and poetry and stories.

So, it is really a matter of taste and choice. Anyway, I like it here

and am very grateful for the presence of such warmth and friendship.

Lots of love

Harsha

Dear Peter, Richard, Harsha and all,

perhaps a last remark may be needed.

RM-list deletion happened unexpected. Though it was discussed

amongst us it was not yet decided - and at least if we would have

decided it to be done, surely not without a parting message and so

soon. Perhaps we would have found another solution also - I can't

say. Most of the moderators did not know that it would happen this

Sunday morning and had to bear the shock first hand. The deletion of

the list was a lonely decision of one. Miles also knew nothing about

it. I was on the list with a feeling that it would go soon the night

before and saved some old messages from the archive. In the morning

I wanted to continue - when suddenly I could not access the list

anymore. At the same time another moderator tried and found out that

it was deleted. We were shocked whole Sunday. But so things happen!

Who knows why! Perhaps we learn from it. I really don't know.

But never mind! All comes out right at the end.

Deletion of AV-list also happened. I take over full responsibility

for it and appologize.

love to all

Gabriele
