Kali Puja and my relationship to Her

When living at the Temple in Martinez, California with Shree Maa, Swami Satyananda, and

devotees, Shree Maa answered an inner question I had kept secret by saying "Gautam, why

don't you get a Kali Murti (statue of the goddess Kali) and do puja to Her?Yes, Shreemaa,

I will do this as I am going down to San Diego to visit relatives and on the way I will buy or

order a Kali Murti from the Vedanta Society bookstore in Santa Barbara." As they did not

have one in stock that I liked, I ordered one and asked the attendant to send it to me.

After waiting several days in anticipation of receiving my first and only Kali Murti, it finally

came in the mail, and having showed it to Shreemaa, she replied by blessing it and saying,

Kali is now your Ishta Devi; do worship to her regularly; She is the one who takes away the

darkness unto Herself and causes us to shine, bringing out our true nature of goodness,

light, and love for all to see." Thank you Shreemaa and Swamiji, for your unmeasureable

gifts of always guiding our path to increasingly higher understanding... Blessings Always

to you and all devotees--
