Guest guest
Greetings ! Here is one story i would like to share with you all. "Those who have complete faith in me, can walk on the waters of the river," announced the Guru. This happened in a village on a riverbank. The announcement was being made before the gathering of his disciples. There was cunningness in the announcement, as the Guru himself had no knowledge about how to walk on the river water. So ignorant were his disciples, that they didn't understand the meaning of the words. If someone tried to walk on water and he would naturally fall down. There would be a stock reply from the Guru , "your faith in me was lacking, so you could not walk on the water." So this was the game, the Guru used to play whenever there was an induction of a new disciple. And today was one such occasion. A new disciple had joined them. He heard the Guru very intently and then got up from his seat and before anyone could stop him, he was just by the river. All the eyes were looking at him as he began walking on the river. As if it was not enough, he walked back from the other bank. For few moments, there was pin drop silence, and then they were talking and shouting simultaneously. The Guru was proud that one of his disciples could achieve such a feat. The Guru thought, if his disciple could walk on the water, so could he. With that idea in his mind, he asked his disciples to follow him. He was the first one to put his left leg on the water and when he placed the right leg on water, he went deep down the river. Some of his disciples, who were good swimmers, brought him out. Now it was the disciple's turn, who had walked on the river earlier , to be surprised at the fate of his Guru. When the Guru regained consciousness, the first thing he asked was, "How the hell could you walk on the water." The disciple replied, "As you told me if I had complete faith in you, I could walk on water. So I believed you and all of you have seen the result. All right now you repeat the same feat", ordered the Guru. The disciple tried to do so and met the same fate as his Guru. Everyone was surprised. How could it happen ? It was obvious that the second time the disciple had lost faith in his Guru. so, what is the moral of the story ? In the Upanishads five signs of sat guru (true guru) are mentioned. In the presence of the satguru; Knowledge flourishes (Gyana raksha); Sorrow diminishes (Dukha kshaya); Joy wells up without any reason (Sukha aavirbhava); Abundance dawns (Samriddhi); All talents manifest (Sarva samvardhan). To coclude , here is verse 1 from VIVEKA CHUDAMANI i prostrate myself before Govinda, the true Guru and ultimate Bliss, who is the unattainable resort of all scriptures and Vedanta. ( here Govinda stands for lord hari as well as adi shankara bhagvadapada's guru Govindapada - GURU IS GOD IN HUMAN FORM ! ) SRI GURUBYO NAMAHA
