Guest guest
Dear Friends, Namaste!!! Happy Diwali!!! For you Rama Bhaktas I have a dear friend and Guru in Delhi named Prof Dr Satya Vrat Shastri, he is likely the most highly decorated Sanskrit scholar alive today. But of all he is a very special Rama Bhakta. Over 20 years ago, when Princess of Thailand (Princess Maha Chakri) wanted to do MA in Sanskrit, the Thai Govt contacted Indian Govt who deputed Prof Shastri to teach Her Royal Highness. Starting from when he lived in Thailand over 19 years, and received the Kingdom's highest scholastic award from HM the King. This was for his rendition of the Thai Ramayana (Ramakian) into Sanskrit on level of Valmiki Himself. He was also awarded Padma Shree, etc etc., and universities worldwide taking turns awarding him PhD (H.C.) and every Sanskrit award there is in India. During his work, which is named Sri Rama-kirti-maha-kavyam, and which is already published in 5 different language translations of his Sanskrit, Prof Shastri found answers to certain mysterious questions unanswered in Sri Ramayana and Charitmanas, and I bet you would be interested. If you hold Rama-katha with Prof Shastri you'll feel ananda to the core of your heart. And so will he! Whenever he comes to Thailand he is treated as VIP by the Indian Ambassadors and the Palace. There has never been an Indian ambassador to Thailand equal to Prof Shastri; and because of him alone Indian's are more respected here in Siam. Actually, most every country in SE Asia has it's own version of Ramayana, and they all vary slightly, though the same story. Prof Shastri told that each version he found held answers to questions from the others. His rendition of Thai Ramakien INTO Sanskrit prose is adbhuta; and is subject of so many Ph Ds theses by itself. It is as if he created actual "Shastra" (and he's still alive today). The reason the Princess wanted the Ramakien story written in Sanskrit is so it will be preserved better in Sanskrit for the long term future. I really feel blessed by Lord Rama to have his friendship. Because of him our son is a Royal student in the King's Palace (its the first time in Thai history that a Westerner's child went to the Palace school). This is by mercy of Prof Shastri, who is Godfather to our son, Jiva. He is now 76 years old and lives in Delhi in Defence Colony. I made a web site for him since 9 years ago that is: http://www.satyavrat-shastri.net He is really like a Rsi disguised as a scholar; a great Rsi. And his humility is equal to his greatness! It might please Lord Rama if you made friendship with him because he is an ocean of Rama-vidya. He is also world authority on Kalidas. His web site pages have his contact info. His wife is named Prof Dr Usha Satyavrat, and she is also highly decorated Ph D.in Sanskrit and a retired professor. In all my 39 years of India I never met a couple like them. In fact, I would be amazed if you all didn't know him or of him because any Ramayana conference in the world would be presided over by him. If you ever felt like you wanted to meet Valmiki himself, then this is almost as good, if not equal. I'm attaching a pic of the book cover. He also has MANY other books, specially on Kalidas. Best wishes for blissful Rama-smaran...
