Guest guest
Question from Janitri: Please explain to a westerner what the significance of the right hand and left hand are. i recently learned to not give nor receive with my left hand. Some say that this is because the left hand is for hygiene and the right hand for Holy purposes. But, it feels as if this tradition is significant back to long, long ago before hygiene was an issue when we may have been living in more evolved times than what we are today. Does this make sense? Can Swamiji help explain? Love. Swamiji's response: The origin of this custom was about hygiene, but to day it is more a matter of demonstrating respect. It is a form of acknowledgment of respect to offer and receive with the right hand. It shows a special appreciation.
