[Here is a nice, interesting radio feature with a Diwali-themed lead-

in that aired today on the U.S.'s National Public Radio (NPR)

show, "Morning Edition." It's only about 3 minutes long, so it should

be a pretty quick download and listen if you're in the mood:]

 

WORLD: Floating Down the Ganges River

 

Morning Edition, October 23, 2006 · If you see a body floating down

the Ganges, it's usually safe to assume it's dead. Devout Hindus

deposit the remnants of their dead into the river, as they believe it

purifies the soul. But don't be too sure. Body-surfing has arrived in

this, the holiest of waterways. Philip Reeves reports.
