My recent Trip to Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam

Namaste dear all:

 

To celebrate Deepavali with my relatives, I made a short trip to

Chennai and I had the opportunity to visit Kanchipuram yesterday.

The purpose of my trip was to visit Sri Chandrasekharendra

Saraswathi Viswa Maha Vidyalaya (Deemed University). Sri

Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya is the brainchild

of H.H. Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, the Sankaracharya of Sri

Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. The status of Deemed University was

conferred on this institution in 1993. It is located in Enathur 4

KMS from Kanchipuram. The Mahavidyalaya is sponsored by Sri Kanchi

Kamakoti Peetam Charitable Trust. The University started functioning

from 1994-1995 academic year with very limited resources, but within

a span of ten years it has equipped itself adequately to run ME,

MBA, MCA, BE, BAMS programmes successfully. This rapid progress of

the University shows the dedication of employees, active

participants of the authorities and the guidance and blessings of

Their Holiness.

 

The acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Viswanathan has invited my nephew

(Prof. Venkateswaran, Vice-Chancellor, BITTS, Pilani)and me discuss

about introducing some certificate courses focusing on Sankara's

works. During our visit, we brainstormed various possibilities and

the Kanchi Mutt and the University are very interested to get some

feedback from the members of advaitin mailing list. I plan to

discuss with the advaitin moderation board regarding possible

arrangements.

I have also met both Pujyaswami Sri Jayendra Saraswati and the

Balaswamigal. They expressed their wholehearted support and
