Guest guest
Sat nam friends- I am preparing for a spiritual gathering with a group of women this Sunday. The focus is on clearing out space for inner light as winter approaches. We will be carving pumpkins and lighting candles inside them as one activity as well as sharing ideas about what "inner light" means to each of us and what we think adds to and dimishes the "glow" within us. I would like to do some exercises or a simple kriya that would compliment this theme. My friends who are attending have limited experience with yoga, but are also very open-minded. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Lisa
Guest guest
Dear Lisa: Here's a simple exercise about the light: Imagine that you enter the sun with your whole body (you won't burn!) and experience both the warmth and the light of the sun entering your body from everywhere into every place! Do this as long as you choose. (From Gurunam's Lifting the Veil) Another exercise, after this one feels comfortable, is to sit with a straight yet soft back (soft so you let the energy flows freely, straight so the energy flows freely!) and feel your own breath and feel your breath entering your body and feel areas in your body that don't quite receive the breath and allow these areas to receive the breath. Do this a couple of minutes. Then add the feel of your heart beat while still experience the interchange of breath with all the sensations in your body. So now 3 things are being felt interacting with each other: the breath, all your sensations and your heart beat. Experience that a couple of minutes as well (or as long as you wish if you do nothing else). The next step is to start experiencing all this at a subtle level like it is all light and only light. And stay with this, letting everything be free, not forcing anything, just allowing the light in everything and in yourself to show itself to you. Blessings, Awtar
