Guest guest
Question from Gyandesh: Firstly, I would like to send my greetings to all the devotees of this wonderfull . Over the past few weeks I have been listenening over and over to the Mahalakshmi Ashtakam sung by Shree Maa. I am still overwhelmed by the beauty in which it is sung and the true meaning of it. What i would like to know is if anyone knows the 'story' of when this Ashtakam was originally composed. I once heard of there being songs of praises sung to Maha Lakshmi when She emerged from the churning of the ocean. Thanks for any Information. Swamiji's response: Yes, we all know the story of the Samudra Mantan, the churning of the Ocean of Pure Consciousness. First came out the deadly poison, which Shiva drank to save creation. Then Indra and all the Gods sang the Mahalakshmi Ashtakam, and in the Chandi Path is says, Sarvasyadi Mahalakshmi Triguna Parameshwari. First and foremost is Mahalakshmi, the Supreme Goddess beyond the Three Gunas.
