Srimathae Ramanujaya Namaha:

Adiyen had the following question in mind while

reading Oppiliappan Sthala Puranam.

Is the Markandeya Rishi, the Father-in-Law of

Srinivasa Perumal, same as the Markandeya in the Sivan

story where Sivan protected him from Yama Dharmarajan?

Please pardon adiyen's ignorance.

Sri.

Nameste,

Sorry if i make any mistake on the following comments.

I had the same question, while i visited the

Thiruaathanoor temple( i think the temple is very near

to pullampoothamkudi). The bhattar was clarify this to

me. Yes he is the same. In this temple along with

mulaavar you see the statue of rishi as well and here

he attains his motcham it seems.

After he get the sahavaram or full lifeterm, he

realise that it will not lead to wisdom but it is only

a curse.(vaiguntham puguvathu mannavar vithiyee) Then

he starts to worship shriman narayana. He got his

eternal life here. During the time he gives his

daughter to shriman narayana in oppliappan.

This again proves that ""Narayanane namakee pari

tharuvan.""

Please correct me if i made any mistakes.

Adiyen
