Then again, mainstream science is not very respected in the community of

devotees, since nutrition wise (as in so many other areas) they are

basically clueless about what is good for human consumption.

According to Ayurveda onions and garlic are bad as they make people dull and

stupid.

So does assumption and dogma (just kidding).

I believe that garlic dulls creativity.

As for being toxic, the acknowledged best diet in Western countries is the

Mediterrarean diet that includes lots of garlic. So, anecdotally, the

premise it is toxic doesn't seem to play out.

I think devotees should look at garlic as a medicine with side effects. It

is good for high blood pressure and is an antiviral.

One reason it is medicinal is the high sulfur content. Sulfur is water

soluble and is lost by lots of things in cooking. Another good source of

sulfur are the Brassicas - kale, cabbage, broccoli, etc.

Right :)

> I believe that garlic dulls creativity.

Anyone can of course believe what they want, but according to Ayurveda

onions a garlic make people dull and stupid.

I never said garlic was toxic. I just said that according to Ayurveda onions

and garlic make people dull and stupid, and now this idea seems confirmed by

empiric research.

There is no reason what so ever for devotees to take garlic as a medicine,

for there are Ayurvedic equivalents good for high blood pressure and also

antiviral far superior to garlic, and without any sideeffects.

Sulfur is easily obtained by using black salt, so there is no need for

garlic. Of course you don't want to exaggerate the intake of sulfur as it

makes the bones brittle.
