Guest guest
After all, a women is going to live with a man for life. Should she select that man by having a swayamvara where two people perform wrestling? After two fight, the person who wins marries the princess! Do anyone likes this concept? Is there a basic flaw in this concept? But given the fact that even Rama had a swayamvara, is that the right thing to do? Would you go and fight in a swayamvara for a woman? Guest guest
It sounds extremely romantic to me.
Guest guest
But given the fact that even Rama had a swayamvara, is that the right thing to do? Would you go and fight in a swayamvara for a woman? Just because Lord Rama did swayamvara does not mean that we should try to imitate him. Why don't we try to become an expert archer like him also? and begin using Bhramastra weapons...? In my honest opinion I do not think it is romantic, for all it means is that the fittest person, or better fighter wins. Not the person who "loves" that women the most. Guest guest
Rama lives in a different age in the ancient world where swayamavara was acceptable. Today this is no longer acceptable. A couple can get to know each other then decide if they want to marry. Just because a man may win a wrestling match does not mean he is going to be a good husband and does not mean he will always be stronger or better than the man he defeated. He may win a wrestling match one day, but lose the next day.
