Jagadisa visited Mayapur with his friend Sri Vaikunthanatha Ghosal Bhakti

Tattva Vacaspati, who was a court pandita of the Maharaja of Tripura and

follower of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura who had first glorified the Thakura

and Sri Siddhanta Sarasvati to Jagadisa.

Might the above convey that Vaikunthanatha was one of several followers of

Srila Bhaktivinoda who had first glorified the Thakura and Sri Siddhanta

Sarasvati to Jagadisa?

Is "a" needed before "follower"?

I think there are too many personages in this sentence for the reader to

easily keep them straight. I suggest . . .

Jagadisa visited Mayapur with his friend Sri Vaikunthanatha Ghosal Bhakti

Tattva Vacaspati. He was one of the Maharaja of Tripura's court panditas

and the follower of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura who had first told Jagadisa

about the glories of the Thakura and Sri Siddhanta Sarasvati.

You really need "the". see above.

Should Maharaja be plural? .... one of the Maharajas of...

Or

He was a Maharaja of...

Or was he a court pandit, as indicated in the original above?

Or "He was a Maharaja among Tripura's court Pandits...."

Instead of "the follower" what about "a follower" because 'the' suggests

only one follower whereas 'a' indicates more than one as was the case.

Is this clearer:

"Jagadisa visited Mayapur with his friend Sri Vaikunthanatha Ghosal Bhakti

Tattva Vacaspati. The latter was a pandit in Maharaja Tripura's court and a

follower of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura. It was Vaikunthanatha who first told

Jagadisa about the glories of the Thakura and Sri Siddhanta Sarasvati."

The above seems easier to read and comprehend, but is it what the author is

intending?
