Question from Alan:

The classes on Cosmic Puja are coming up on the section for the Brahma

Puja. I have a question regarding Brahma Puja as it relates to something

found in the book Tattva Jnana by Swamiji and Shree Maa.

Tattva Jnana indicates that there are five principal deities to whom

devotion can be offered. These five are given as Shiva, Vishnu, Shakti

(the divine Mother), Ganesha, and Surya and the Nine Planets.

Why these five? Why is Brahma not included? Given that Brahma is not in

the list of deities to whom devotion can be offered, why does the Cosmic

Puja nevertheless include Brahma Puja?

Swamiji's response:

I hope I touched on the answer during tonight's class, but I will like

to reiterate my understanding:

Brahma was cursed that his worship would not be widespread - not that he

would not be worshipped at all.

He is the Rishi of Chapter One of the Chandi, and he sang the important

Tantrik Ratri Shukta to awaken Yoga Nidra in order to get Vishnu to put

Too Much and Too Little into balance.

In the Pradanika Rahasya, the three Goddesses gave birth to the three

Gods, and then married with them, so that when Shakti became manifest, a

form of Consciousness was immediately born to perceive it.

Brahma is an intrinsic part of our worship. He gives birth to the new

creation with every passing moment.

Therefore, he does not preside over a specific sect of Hinduism, but he

is respected by all sects anyway.

Nanda's footnote:

We hope that more of us will be able to tune into the Cosmic Puja

classes, 6.30 pm PST Mon-Fri, after the evening arati. Also to ask

questions real time and participate in the discussions, please add

messenger list and login to the chat at 6.30 pm.
