Guest guest
Dear devotees, Here is an incident which indicates need for a guru. Once Hari Mahraj(Swami Turiyananda) did not come to Dakshneshwar for a long time. Sri Ramakrishna sent many messages to him. But he was busy reading Vedanta and had no time to spend several hours walking to see Sri Ramakrishna. After several months and much persuasion he arrived, one day, in Sri Ramakrishna’s room. Sri Ramakrishna asked Hari Maharaj if he is learning Vedanta, to which he replied ‘yes’. Sri Ramakrishna then said, “What does it teach? Just that the world is unreal and Atma alone is real. Does it say anything else? Then why waste time; why not practice to realize it.” Hari Mahraj was stunned and felt the truth of it and instead of reading books started the practice his Guru taught him. That explains the need of a Guru. Chetan Merani
