Guest guest
Hi Y'all, I was looking over the second sutra again when something struck me. I may be off the mark because I'm sort of half-guessing (I don't know Sanskrit), but it seems right to me and it adds a little extra dimension to the sutra. OK, here it is: Kaamabandham - bound by desires jiivabhaavam - the individual soul (jiiva) and is his existence The word I'm looking at is bhaavam, translated as "is his existence". It seems to be the same word as bhaava, just in a different tense. I'm thinking bhaavam could also carry the same connotations we generally give the word bhaava, namely feeling, emotional presence, intensity of emotion, attitude. Doing so doesn't change the meaning of anything. It just enhances, adds another layer, and emotional one, to the sutra. Just imagine that when you read the translated word "existence" you also read intensity of emotion, enduring feelings, attitudes, etc. What this means is that our character, the reactions of others to us, the way we perceive and approach situations, the way we navigate through this life, are we happy, insightful, afraid, hopeful, or pessimistic - our "existence" is bound by our desires... How then are our bonds affected when we desire only God, feel only God, live the bhaava of Divine Mother? Jai Maa! Chris
