Guest guest
In looking for pictures of Nissargadatta I stumbled across a treasure. I went to the following web site http://itisnotreal.com/Self-Knowledge.html and found a little book SELF KNOWLEDGE AND SELF REALIZATION. It is an early work, written by Nissargadatta himself and translated and slightly reedited by Jean Dunn. This is the only work he actually wrote, all the other material is from tape recordings and typescripts. Many of you may know of it but if you don't it provides a wonderful view of Nissargadatta after his realization and the revelation and comments about the whole process. It is also an insight into his devotional side. It concludes with his analysis of the Gayatri Mantra and the only thing missing is his translation of the mantra itself. A translation with the original text is easily found in the search engines. In his commentary he is writing about the "sounds" of the original text. There is influence here of Kashmiri Shaivism it seems to me. Apparently it was never copyrighted in any language and is thus available for copying and pasting. The font of the title is not one I recognize and that seems to get lost in the copy. In any event it is available for personal use. The owner of the web site deserves a vote of thanks for providing the text and surrounding material. Finding this was quite unexpected and serendipitious. When I found it I felt like I had found a pearl of great value. If you are not aware of it, I hope you will also find it wonderful as I have. Guest guest
Good to hear from you Michael. Hope you are well and in comfort. Thanks for sharing the link to Maharaj's early book John. Interestingly Maurice Friedman knew both Sri Ramana and Nisargadatta and spent time with them. Nisargadatta referred to Maurice Friedman as a Jnani once. Love to all Harsha Michael Bindel wrote: > > Dear John > > thank you very much for sharing with us what you found and letting us > know whats of importance to you..... > > all the best > > > michael bindel > > - > ** John Logan <johnrloganis > > *To:* > <> > *Sent:* Sunday, November 12, 2006 7:13 PM > *Subject:* Work by Nissargadatta > > In looking for pictures of Nissargadatta I stumbled across a treasure. > I went to the following web site > > http://itisnotreal.com/Self-Knowledge.html > <http://itisnotreal.com/Self-Knowledge.html> > > and found a little book SELF KNOWLEDGE AND SELF REALIZATION. > > It is an early work, written by Nissargadatta himself and translated > and slightly reedited by Jean Dunn.
