Guest guest
Dear Group, I have just completed the first ever biography of my teacher, Nome. I did not see a way to post this as a file here. I did post it in the files section of PracticeofSelfInquiry/ It was very useful for me to do the writing. Perhaps it will be useful to some of you. I tried to give some details on the spiritual path he travelled to Self-realization. I hope this may be of interest to you. Guest guest
Dear One, Who rates the rater? As a factual point, I tried several times to post to the Gururatings list but Sarlo does not allow it. I am on that list as a spectator and have read many of the posts. There are many wise people in Sarlo's group but also there is tendency towards much mental violence to each other. Its almost heart breaking to read some of the posts. To my knowledge, I have never posted anything on any list which was intended to cause mental anguish to anyone. Yet, I am moderated on Sarlo's list because I sign my name as Maharishi Bingo Ram. If I had a more "ordinary" ID, I would be allowed to post. So there seems to be a lack of substance in this approach. Our commitment to Truth should allow us to see beyond the name of the person or the name a person has taken in order to post on . My point is Richard that all of us have to use our good judgment even the arena of spirituality and gurus because that is all we have. Certainly, we can benefit from the advice and wisdom of others. And it is also good to keep our eyes open in terms of what is going on in the spiritual scene. I think this is where Sarlo's rating may be of some help to some people as it provides another view and also information that people may not be aware of. Jody's Guruphiliac also offers a lot of information as well as entertainment. But should one base one's life choices on such things? Probably not. What is true wisdom? Only to abide in one's heart as oneself. If someone can post just this one time to Gururatings, I would appreciate that as I am moderated there. I do wish for Sarlo's group to know that I am sending my love and blessings to them and wish for them healing and peace. Guest guest
_____ [] On Behalf Of Richard Saturday, November 18, 2006 7:52 AM Re: Biography of Nome Sarlo gives Master Nome a low rating and has some negative things to say about him including his history. Richard Too mb: I don't know Nome; but I have read most of the allegations against him. I don't know for certain that they are true; but nothing would surprise me. And Sarlo may be a very high guy, I don't know him either; but the last time I looked at his list I was shocked when I read the names of some of the persons that he gives a high rating to. The only thing that I can conclude about any of this is that I don't necessarily agree with Sri Sarlo's opinions. Warm regards, michael

Guest guest
Dear Richard Too, I have read the negative posting on Sarlo. I was at SAT where Nome teaches during the period of these comments, and I have to say I never saw or heard anything that would support them. What I experienced was just Nome teaching a very pure and high teaching of Advaita Vedanta and instruction an Ramana'a self inquiry. During the time I have been listending to Nome, in literally 100's of hours, all I have heard is the impersonal Truth. And much careful teaching of Nome, answering each question asked in a way that brings the questioner to look deeply into their own identity. I notice about Sarlo that the negative postings are all unsigned, and the positive postings have a name. This makes it very easy to use Sarlo as a way for someone to 'bash' a guru. Sarlo does not go check out the teachers, so I think most of these 'ratings' are not based on his own experience with the teachings. So I would say to someone that it is best to listen to a teacher, and lesten deeply; listen, reflect and meditate on what you have heard. This is how to see what a teacher has to offer. During Ramana's time there were those saying negative things about him. Do you think your spiritual search would have been better served by listening to these critics, or by sittting with Ramana? I consider Nome to be a jewel, most precious teacher. I have benefited from his teachings greatly. I see this with others whoe take satsang wit him. this is what I know from my opwn experiences since 1990. My post was in response to Richard' s comment about Sarlo ratings of Nome. So you can send that too. It may help the GR list. However, Lady Joyce, there may be adverse consequences from the moderator to you and you may be put on moderation also for your actions. Therefore, it is up to you if you wish to make the sacrifice. Thank you for your heartfelt kindness in response to my love and wisdom. Love and Blessings Maharishi Bingo Ram
