PATTANA PRAVESAM OF SRIRANGAM JEEYAR SWAMY !

 

 

 

As per Sri Vaishnava Sampradhaya it is customary to adopt

CHATHURMASYA VIRADHA by all sanyasis for four months of rainy

(varsha) season. This viradha (vratham) forbids any movement of

sanyasis and this is to avoid disturbances to all reptiles, mites,

rodents etc. which will wander freely from the ground during the

rainy season. As usual Sri.Paramahamsedyadhi Srirangam Sriranga

Narayana Jeeyar Swamy of Srirangam Temple, the 50th PeeTAdhipathi

took sankalpa on July 10th of this year. From that day the Jeeyar

Swamy stayed in his mutt, avoiding all sancharams except to offer

Mangalasasanams to the Dhivya Dampathi of Srirangam.

 

The Jeeyar Swamy is the prime receiver of Theertha mariyadhai of

Srirangam Temple and only in his presence, Periyaperumal of

Srirangam accepts "Punugu Kappu" (applying of Punugu) performed

every Friday. The Swamy takes this respect in the name of Sri

Ramanuja.

 

The Jeeyar Swamy completed his sankalpa viradha today (05.11.06) and

he paid his Homage to Kattazhagiya Singa Perumal Sannidhi, very near

to Srirangam. From there, Jeeyar Swamy was brought in a procession

of Udhanam by his disciples, devotees, VIPs and many officials. He

made his PATTANA PRAVESAM in the PALLAKKU Carried on shoulders by

Sripadham Thangihal in Pradhakshinam in Chithra & Utthra Streets.

 

The Jeeyar Swamy was greeted and paid Homage by all residents of

Srirangam. Sri Vaishnavites and the general public received

blessings from Jeeyar Swamy, an opportunity that is rare and

wonderful.
