THE TUESDAY PHENOMENON

 

Some say that 'tuesday' is auspicious as it is 'mangaLa vAram'. Howevers, some others do not prefer as it is ruled by malefic mars-sevvAi.

 

For us, srevaishNavites, it is a day of rejoicing as it it this day SvAmi Nam AzvAr desended into this mother earth.

The magnum opus tiru-vaimozhi and the relted vyakyanam-s followed by the juicy AchArya Hrdhayam can all be traced to the source as this day tuesday.

 

Then, shall we promulgate

"For all purposes and intents, hereinafter, tuesday shall be the day of rejoicing, a mark of clebration and open for all auspicious events"

 

Yes.Would be the logical answer.

 

Going a bit further into this, let us see what AzvAr felt on his birth. He felt very bad that he had missed Sri KrshNA by a week's time. This gave him a

lasting misery. This coslty siip between the cup and the slip rendered him frustrated.

A week had elapsed since Sri KrhsNA decided to ascend to thannudaich sOdhi. 'Oh! had i been here a few days back, I would have had His divine vision'

rued Sri Nam-AzvAr -the krhsNA thrshNA thathvam-the manifestation of love for sri KrshNA.

 

In this light, tuesday though very good for us, for AzvAr , it rendered a lasting misery. a lifelong feeling of miss.

 

Should we then celebrate of AzvAr's arrival or feel for Azvar's dis-appointment?

What could be most auspicious to us than the arrival of Swami Namazhwar? Hence, there should not be any second thought on the auspiciousness of that day. (Interestingly I have read that it was on a Tuesday that Sri Aanjaneya gave kanayaazhi to Thayaar, bringing bountless joy to Her. I cannot vouch for this as I am not well read of Ramayana works).
