He can fulfill the longings of the Atman. He can ignore it. Notwithsatnding this, the Atman always takes refuge in the Lord. This is anlaogous of a woman always living with her beloved though he may not be conducive to her. This is because, it is the nature of Atman to be so. Kaliyan therefore, compares himself with the bitter -vEambu and its worm -the worm in this bitterr neem tree-does not eat sweet but the same bitter vEAMbu. it is its nature. Likewise, Tirumangai azvAr spells out that he is subservient to EmperumAn irrespective whether the Lord fulfills the desires or not. vEambin puzhu vEambanRi vuNNAdhu -adiyEan nAn pinnum vun SEavadi anRi nayavEan'11-8-7; Sri Nam AzvAr categorically expresses this in the thiruvaimohzi 'kadiyan-kodiyan -nediyamAl-...arivarumEani mAyathan Agilum kodiyan en nenjam avan ennEa kidakkum ellEA'5-3-5; Sri PiLLai vulagAsiriyar has quoted the above two pAsuram-s in Sri vachana BHUshaNam 111 to reiterante the nature of subservience of the soul. Sri pirATTi also expressed that she followed Sri Chakravarthith Thirumagan not because He was nice but it was basic nature of her to do so.
