Guest guest
Namaste Today in our discussion group on the live chat, we discussed an amazing technique for releasing ourselves from the bondage of behaviors which take us away from our goal of self realization. On page 39 of the Kasyapa Sutras, we discovered that specific mantras can be used to control emotions and behaviors. There are mantras which correspond to specific emotions, such as sorrow, lust, doubt, etc. By repeating those mantras, you gain control of the specific emotion. Then, you can recite the mantra of the attitude you wish to replace the emotion with. For example, peace, dharma, forgiveness, abundance, light, pleasure, etc. For example, repeat one mala of bham, confusion, then another mala of sam, peace. In this way you can watch confusion transform into peace. It is so simple, so practical, and so profound. Those of us in the group today all took a sankalpa of watching our emotions, and when a non-life supporting emotion rears its head, we will repeat the mantra of it, then replace it with the positive attitude by repeating that mantra. I wish I could list all the mantras, but there are too many. I hope you can all obtain a copy of the book: Shree Maa: the Guru and the Goddess and try this technique. Those of us practicing this technique, will share our discoveries on line. Please join. The more of us practicing together, the stronger the influence. I thank Maa and Swami for giving us this gift, another pearl of wisdom to add to string of pearls hanging around our necks. Please make me worthy of this gift, and increase my devotion and bring devotion to our entire Devi Mandir family, and thru our family, and the families of our families, bring pure devotion and peace to this entire Uni- Verse. One undivided verse, the refrain of the song of God. The eternal love song which pervades every note sung, and fills every heart with bliss, Jai Maa. Guest guest
Namaste, Kasyapa Sutra 4 says ........"It is our own attachment which makes for cloudy judgement. It is just our ignorant attachments which make for a lack of discrimination. The ego is very subtle and will try to trick us. But by constant vigilance we can gain control, self-mastery, and a greater degree of efficiency. Then we will attempt to satisfy only those desires which will produce the fruit of knowledge, not the fruit of ignorance." Guest guest
Namaste All, Dear Vish has explained our group sankalpa; many thanks to those who shared the idea. Today this child made a conscious effort to repeat a mantra with every action performed through this body .... On awakening Guru was placed on the crown and a silent prayer offered in thanks for a new dawning. Personal mantra offered before, during and after morning sadhana and a special offering of gratitude to Divine Mother for Her love in appearing to us in a form that we can love and understand ... Beloved Shree Maa and Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Meals were prepared with the Gayatri Mantra. If an action commenced and no mantra was offered then i repeated a mantra (mostly "Om Kali" or "Om Namah Sivya") 11 times. It is now 16:40 in this area it has been a most peaceful day, internally and externally. With Gurujis love and guidance, may this sankalpa fill the three world with Peace. Guest guest
Namaste All, thank you Vish and Kalia for your posts, which have inspired me to think about mantra's to use for my sankalpa. I would like to share an idea which I think will work for me, at least I intend to try to see if it does. Thinking about all kinds of situations which could arise during the day, the Tantric Devi Sukta came to mind (the part of the Chandi where the gods pray to the Divine Mother to come and defeat Self-Conceit and Self-Deprecation (chapter 5)). I feel the mantra's in which different qualities of our Divine Mother are enumerated can be used to great effect in order to change poison into nectar. For instance, if I am tempted to go to the marketplace and buy things I don't need, I could say the mantra where the Goddess is praised as True Wealth, in a situation where I felt agitated I could use the mantra praising Her as peace etc. etc. When confronted with confusion, I could use the appropriate mantra in order to remind myself that She is that too, etc. etc. I think that the intention of using these mantra's will help me to observe what is going on in the mind, discriminate and surrender. And there is the added bonus that, as Swamiji has reminded us, every time you bow down you receive a blessing! Apart from these, I have made a list of activities and accompanying mantra's and I will do my best to use them. The Kashyapa Sutra classes are so very inspiring; it is much easier and more fun to make attempts like these when you know that others are doing something similar. Thank you all for the inspiration and motivation, with love, Henny , "kaliananda_saraswati" <kaliananda_saraswati wrote: > > Namaste All, > > Dear Vish has explained our group sankalpa; many thanks to those who > shared the idea. > > Today this child made a conscious effort to repeat a mantra with > every action performed through this body .... Guest guest
Namaste All, Over the years it appears that whenever I discuss certain aspects, the opposite always appear. Yesterday the sankalpa was proceeding so beautifully, and, with a heart full of joy (at least I pray it was joy and not ego) this child shared what was happening. A few short hours after that one ugly friend raised its head, suspicion. Today started kind of ok but then being out in the world of work, traffic etc ….. other friends came a visiting - stubbornness, judgement. These friends brought on forgetfulness to tune into the mantras so lovingly shared by our Beloved Gurus in the K Sutras. Mother has challenged these friends to battle so during evening sadhana while seated at the Blessed Feet of Divinity, this child will offer with love and gratitude the appropriate bija mantras for suspicion, stubbornness, judgment and forgetfulness with the pray that they all go to heaven. Dear Guru Mother, please let this consciousness remained fixed on Thee. Pranams Love Kalia

Guest guest
Namaste Henny, what a great idea. As I read it, it felt so perfect. They are really special verses. Yes, bowing brings blessings too. When I chant the Chandi, very time I say, namastasyai: I bow. As you probably know, each time you repeat the word, 3 times in a row at the end of each verse: we 1st bow to the gross body, then the subtle body, and third the causal body. We are bowing to She who resides on all levels of life, in all creation. When Maa shared this knowledge with us, it brought another bonus to bowing. So glad you are doing the practice. I remember seeing the mantras years ago and wishing I could use them, but I never took the time. I agree that the group sankalpa is the key. There is strength in a group committment. The other force helping us is Maa and Swami. They really want us to dive deep into these techniques, as methods to help us become conscious of our true nature. They constantly help those who follow their teachings and advice. Maa told me many times that She can only help those who align themselves with Her by performing sadhana according to Her instructions. She and Swami have asked us all to participate in the Kasyapa Sutra discussions and thus They put their attention on the group to help us move quickly and deeply into the true meaning of the text. For me personally, the result of the past 3 weeks has been that the more I "watch" my behaviors,in preparation to stop a unbalanced behavior, the more I am realizing that they are just like winds that blow the surface of the ocean into waves, while the depths of the ocean stay calm and quiet. This has been a big step for me, and I thank Them for their help. Guest guest
Namaste Tanmaya I appreciate your comment about offering love to dark thoughts. I sat and thought about it for some time, read some of the Kasyapa Sutras, and analyzed my recent attempts to "stop, look, and listen" when a thought or emotion or mood arises which takes we away from my goal. For example, there is a habit in me to become frustrated and emotionally agitated very quickly when things "do not go right". I loose control and create disharmony around me. Not life supporting. Now, as I have been "consciously watching" this thought arise and begin to take hold of me, over the past several weeks, I realized it was just an old habit, and the ego's attempt to control situations, rather than to accept what happened and flow with it. In plain word, trust the universe rather than fight it. In that context, I could view the thought as a hateful thing, to be crushed and killed, or, the ego playing its game in order to keep control and create disharmony. So, I made the attempt to view it, and accept it, as a game, and laughted at it and its folly, and felt some slight love for it. This seemed to take some of the sting out of it and it subsided and quietness dominated that much quicker. The love felt much better than self loathing and disgust and the positive energy does not "add fuel to the fire" of a negative emotion. Now, I cannot vouch for this being a teaching of Maa, but it came to me in a quiet way, as a result of the "stop, look, and listen" technique I have been using. So, I followed it and it felt right. Now, I am working on inserting the proper mantra when the improper mood arises, repeating the mantra most descriptive of the negative emotion, then, using the mantra representing the positive emotion. The goal: to insert the positive emotion in place of the negative one. This is the technique taught in the 4th Kashyapa Sutra I will ask Swami about giving a negative thought love. Guest guest
Namaste Vishweshwar, To add another voice to this discussion....I was told that in reality we cannot renounce anything, that what we resist persists and the harder we fight the more tangled we get. This would be inline with your recent insights. Further more I was told that the true renunciate is not one that renounces (as in rejects) but simple chooses differently, so it is a moving toward something that is life supporting, supportive of the goal and not resisting, fighting with, or trying to get away from something. It it nice to witness your process. Thank you for sharing. Good lessons we all learn from. Guest guest
Namaste Tanmaya and Vish, Pardon my interjecting. I like what Vish said about attempting to view the negative emotion, and accept it, as a game. This to me like sending love to those who perceive us as enemies. We devotees/disciples/children of Divine Mother have absolutely no power or control over these "dark" thoughts or emotions but in offering them to Mother they are given the opportunity to turn "the bad and ugly" into good for the universe. Mother alone decides their fate. In the Chandi Mother gave the dark thoughts a choice to return to the lower world or stand up and fight. Entering into battle with Mother and falling at Her Beloved Lotus Feet, these thoughts were given the opportunity to go to heaven. At least that is this child's understanding. Please share Swamiji's response. Pranams. , "inspectionconnection108" <inspectionconnection108 wrote: > > Namaste Tanmaya > > I appreciate your comment about offering love to dark thoughts.
