Guest guest
Namaste Group: I would like to share with everyone my experiences that I have had recently while reciting mantras. I recently had a dream in which a person came into the dream and told me to recite the Gayatri mantra. At that time I did not know what that was. I had to look it up on the internet, and find a website that had the exact pronunciation of the mantra. It was a long and difficult mantra to memorize, and it took me awhile to memorize it. Since I began reciting this mantra, I have noticed that during meditation a part of myself seems to separate, and another more pure self emerges. I have noticed that I have sudden aha moments during the day, especially if I am thinking something negative. The negative idea is changed to something deeper and more meaningful. I have begun to become aware of certain negative aspects of my personality that I previously was not aware of, and I have suddenly created ways to cope with aggravations that would have sent me into an anger cycle previously. Is this normal? I would like to view the lessons on the Guru, but this is the end of the semester and I am swamped in papers. I hope to begin viewing the lessons from Swamiji and Shree Maa next semester when things slow down. Guest guest
Namaste` Shankari Kali, What blessings you are experiencing. I have heard of the Gayatri Mantra being called the Guru Mantra as it is often the first mantra given. Shree Maa has suggested reciting it 108 times at mid-day. May the inner Guru continue to bless you with such wise and helpful guidance. In case you are not aware, I think there is a CD available of Shree Maa reciting the Gayatri Mantra. Guest guest
Shankari Kali, What's "normal" (read average) where God and jiva intersect. The individual is as "individual" as anything in the universe, and God is, well, God. When I first awakened in this life (I was eighteen or nineteen) I was given three "dreams" in which I was taken to another loka and sat down in front of a sacred fire and told to be quiet (which I did, needless to say). Each time, I was placed back into my sleeping body just before it was time for me to get up, and I awoke with the bliss of that place still vibrating through every cell, my heart fairly bursting with love for everyone. :) I don't know who it was who took me to that place and watched over me (to keep me from creating mischief, I think - there were others at the fire), although I was worshiping Jesus at the time. But it was done, I believe, to help me purify, to give me a fair start in this life on the path I had only just resumed, and believe me when I say I had a great deal to be purified from. I share this with you because where God is concerned the most amazing things can happen, but we must not fall into the trap of believing they happen only to us, or that they happen because we're so much better, or greater, than others are. This is an almost universal trap ego sets for people on the spiritual path (it can lead to the most stupid mistakes - but, that's another story...). If this "warning" doesn't apply, please disregard... I got my experience, likely, because I would not have "made it" without that extra help, and, apparently, because I was continuing something I had begun before. Likely, the same, or something similar, is true of you, too. Gayatri sadhana is very beautiful. It is a very powerful, very purifying mantra, that especially purifies the mind and prepares it for the dawning of intuitive knowledge. I did a kind of mini-purascharana of Gayatri once, reciting ten malas a day over about one hundred eight days plus ten percent (100,000 mantras - plus), that was blessed by my guru at the time, and by Shree Maa and Swamiji. It was a very blessed sadhana. Oh, how well I remember ends of semesters... Good luck with your work! Jai Maa! Guest guest
Namaste Sadhu Maa, Wow! I didn't know that. Now I will say the Gayatri Mantra 108 times. I hear the mantra pronounced a variety of different ways. It might be a good idea to hear Shree Maa pronounce the mantra. Guest guest
Namaste What a powerful message. Thanks. When I wish to understand something profound that has happened to me, I pray to Maa for guidance and clarity. I surrender my preconceived notions of what I "think" I understand, and ask Her for true understanding. She always provides the answer. She hears every prayer. She has said this and I have found it to be true. Guest guest
I thought there was a sound clip of it somewhere, either on the Devi Mandir site or here, in the files section - but there's not! Oh, well...guess you'll have to buy the cd. Jai Maa Chris , Shankari Kali <shankari_kali wrote: > > Namaste Sadhu Maa, > > Wow! I didn't know that. Now I will say the Gayatri Mantra 108 times. Guest guest
Oh, I forgot! If you have the bandwidth to play the video streams, you can hear the Gayatri chanted in the video entitled something like, Lighting the Sacred Fire at the Devi Mandir. It's in the Videos section, I think. Here's the link: http://www.shreemaa.org/drupal/node/339 Jai Maa! Chris , Shankari Kali <shankari_kali wrote: > > Namaste Sadhu Maa, > > Wow! I didn't know that.
