there is NO ASTROLOGICAL BASIS for it. AMAVASYA is not good for any muhurtha.

 

may be u have read a Tamil's astro site

somewhere there was a translation, printing error that has got pouplar.

 

may be Tamil film scripts have popularised that

amavasya is most auspicious and no date, time or anything needs to be seen

WHICH IS FALSE AND IRRATIONAL astrologically.

 

as u will never find this in Kalaprakishaka, Muhartha chintamani or Hora sara the major Muhurtha works.

 

TN's saraswathi Library has a lot of great Sanskrit works kept in the locks as they feel it will glorify the Aryan culture. the great works we can never see

 

many astrological works available to us in other languages are not there yet in tamil

of websites that its very good for daan etc.

 

Pls tell me although Amavasya is not good time to

start new/auspicious work but is it bad time to do

donation/charity etc?

 

Usually people do donations every poornima & amavasya.

considered to be good for new beginning then why the vedic astrology

considers the birth on amavasya as "inauspicious"

Siva Vishnu temple at Usman road T.nagar is open on

Tuesdays between 3pm -4.30pm, archanai for rahu is

done during that time and also Vinayakar temple at

mahalingapuram also is open on tuedays. this is just

an information.

Hi Gopu,

yes many temples and all Amman temples too even the street corner ones have a field time, good crowd and good bucks. all i said there sure is no scriptural ref to it, film scripts may be, but whatever activity keeps people praying is good at least some productive thing is happening.
