Guest guest
The case for Devotee ORGANIC farms and COWS. Dear prabhu's Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. It is imperative that devotees realize that healthy eating CANNOT BE ACHIEVED if the fruits and vegetables, GRAINS, MILK or WATER they are consuming have been grown with PESTICIDES, HERBICIDES, INSECTICIDES, HORMONES, ANTIBIOTICS, FLOURIDE and other additives which are being used to poison the earth AND the bodies & minds of people to make them diseased, dull-brained and dependent on the pharmaceutical & other industries. Srila Prabhupada himself said that using such substances to grow food was sinful. "WE SHALL NEVER USE THIS ARTIFICIAL FERTILIZER ON OUR FARMS. IT IS FORBIDDEN IN SASTRAS" [sPL 76.01.11]. (emphasis mine). If according to Srila Prabhupada, we should never use these artificial fertilizers on our own farms and they are forbidden in the sastras, why then are we buying and consuming these foods now? Whatever so-called nourishment one acquires from eating more fruits and vegetables and less junk-food/meat is totally destroyed by these toxins - DDT, dioxin, pesticides produced from Petroleum and Gas, Chlorine ++ in the city water supply, radiation fallout from reactors (think Chernobyl) etc. And that's just the beginning. Lack of proper nourishment is one thing, but cancers, heart disease, immuno-deficient bodies, tumors, brain disease, miscarriages, deformed children and so on, are another. These diseases are just the tip of the karmic iceberg which will accrue within one's body by consuming pesticide-laden foods. Genetically modified foods (GMO) or genetically engineered foods (GE) are not even required to be labeled in the USA. So who knows what we are eating??? Please dear devotees - wake up and stop poisoning your bodies and minds with these seriously injurious substances, including the vaccines (oral or shots) which are routinely administered to our us & our children, RIGHT FROM INFANCY! Just think what poisons we are feeding our children by eating foods which are NOT organically grown! We are poisoning our own children! If you had any idea about what these toxins do to your health or you saw videos (men in protective suits spraying plants to keep the bugs off), you would never eat another pesticide-produced product again. When are devotees going to realize that acquiring their own land and growing their own food and raising our dearest loving friends - the cows - is the single most important activity that Iskcon should be pursuing? NOW! ys haridasa vesyadasa "When an honestly mistaken man hears the truth, he either stops being mistaken or ceases to become honest". ========================= >>>> Just for your information... EU is changing... ys, Mukunda's 17/11/2006, new orientation of EU Promoting healthy diets: Commission-funded programme wins WHO Counteracting Obesity Award A project to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables, financed by the European Commission to the tune of €600,000, has just won a major international award. The Irish "Food Dude" campaign won a World Health Organisation Counteracting Obesity Award 2006. The award was presented by Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection Markos Kyprianou during the WHO European Ministerial Conference on Counteracting Obesity being held from 15 to 17 November 2006 in Istanbul. The initiative, which is one of the 146 commitments made to the Commission's Platform for Action on Diet Physical Activity and Health, was praised by Commissioner Kyprianou as "an innovative approach to promoting a healthy and balanced diet among children". The three-year programme was singled out for its success in promoting "fruit and vegetable consumption in a way that changes children's behaviour for the better on a permanent basis while ensuring the availability of the promoted product". This is just one of a number of EU co-financed agricultural promotion projects aimed at boosting healthy eating, at a time when Europe faces a growing problem of obesity, particularly among the young. The award comes as the Commission finalises its proposals to reform the way it supports fruit and vegetable growers across the EU. Better promotion of fruit and vegetables to stimulate consumption will be a major cornerstone of the reform, due to be unveiled on 24 January. Mariann Fischer Boel, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, said: "This is an excellent example of how our promotion efforts can make a real difference to the long-term health of our citizens. It's just the sort of thing I want to build on when we make our proposals to reform our fruit and vegetable market."
