Guest guest
Hi all, I'm new to this group, and I am enjoying reading all of the posts. My wife and I are looking to start a yoga teacher training program, and we love Ashtanga yoga. We spent the last July 4th with David Swenson in Vermont, and loved every minute of it (highly recommend it). The problem is that we have not found a program where we can get the required 200 hours by the Yoga Alliance that focuses in Ashtanga here in Boston. We both would like to expand and learn more about the adjustments that David taught us. Does anyone have any suggestions? Guest guest
There will be a new Mysore teacher in Boston in December. Her name is Kate O'Donnell. She is an awesome teacher with a lot of training and practice time with Nancy Gilgoff and Eddie and Nikki on Maui and in Mysore with Guruji. She would be a great person to talk to about adjustments! But I don't know of any yoga alliance ashtanga teacher trainings as the only one who can authorize you to teach ashtanga is Guruji. That is not to say that those not authorized cannot teach - I do! Anyway, good luck! Yogababe --- egui5304 <egui5304 > wrote: > Hi all, > > I'm new to this group, and I am enjoying reading all > of the posts. Guest guest
Hello! I did a teacher training with Michael Gannon - it's not in Boston but it's good and he is doing it in various places. The course is registered with Yoga Alliance. Check out his website: http://www.ashtangaamericas.com x Anguela x ashtanga yoga, "egui5304" <egui5304 wrote: > > Hi all, > > I'm new to this group, and I am enjoying reading all of the posts. Guest guest
there is no formal yoga alliance certification training for ashtanga - anywhere. if you find it, they are lying and they just want yr money. as emma stated, only guruji can 'certify' you to teach ashtanga. if you want to learn to teach ashtanga, you must practice mysore style, and yes Kate and Back Bay Yoga are fabulous. they are the only studio in the city that teach traditional ashtanga. Guest guest
My thanks to all that has responded to my post. They have been very informative. The ideal program (at least for me) would be a flexible one where the hours can be spread around weekends and evenings. This may be asking a lot; I would love to take a whole month off and go spend it with Michael Gagnon or even in Mysore with Guruji and Sharath. Unfortunately, my job prevents me from doing that. Regards, Ed
