Guest guest
Dear Devotees, Sutra 1 has already said that unfullfilled work (karma) which includes desire will create everything needed to fullfill itself. Shastras also say that unless man is satiated with this world, renunciation does not come. In TattvaGyan by Swamiji it is said that simple desires should be satisfied as soon as these arise but major ones are to be cut with discrimination. In Sri Ramakrishna's life we see that he got it fullfilled quickly when any desire arose in his mind, which invariably was of an ordinary nature such as his desire to eat dainty dishes during his period of Sadhana and the cure Bhairavi had suggested was to keep plates of varied dishes in his room so that he can eat whatever he wanted and whenever he wanted. This was done and that desire disappeared. It is also known that he himself sent Rakhal (later Swami Brahmananda) to his wife. But such type of fullfillment is possible only for highly evolved souls and under guidance of such accomplished Guru. To smother strong desire, once arisen, with force is extremely difficult and also very risky especially if it is handled on ones own. The best thing is to create situation so that such desires do not arise. It needs purity of thought and mind. It is for this reason that Yama and Niyam are the first steps in any spiritual pursuit. All Sadhna is directed towards it. It is said one has to hasten but slowly in spiritual life. Regards Chetan Merani
