Guest guest
Dear Tony, I meant to say a bit earlier... I enjoyed your meandering around the notions of Karma, wondering whether your father serving in the North West Frontier had any karmic implications for our group & so on. Perhaps I had better say that my father also served in the British Army in India for about 7 years around the early 1930's - up the Khyber Pass and thereabouts. So if your meanderings about karmic retribution have any truth in them, between us we may have doubled the prarabdha karma for this group :-) I liked your quote, "There is neither good nor bad, but thinking makes it so." How do you apply it in the example you gave of the importance of acting to defend someone being attacked? best wishes, Peter

The quote I think came from Shakespeare, he was such a philosopher. Ahimsa does require some intervention sometime, at a level below the unity of good and evil.........Tony. Shakespeare had wonderful insights into human beings and life at large. I think the line in question - "There is neither good nor bad, but thinking makes it so." - is from Hamlet. I'm not quite following your line of thought on this one. I normally do. How does it relate to your example of needing to intervene when someone is under attack, and to what events (where intervention or not is a choice) does it no apply? pranams, Peter

Guest guest
[] On Behalf Of Tony OClery Namaste,Peter, I think it is a matter of degree, some violations are too petty to worry about, some are not and require some intervention, form time to time........As always it is always a personal choice..........=================== Namaste, Tony, Thanks, and understood, but that wasn't really what I was queerying.
