Guest guest
Daily Reflection December 5 – Instructions from Shree Maa Always keep your mind in an attitude of purity. Then peace will come. Do not allow your inner attitude to be deflected by the pains and difficulties of the external world. This is known as Peace. When your inside and outside exhibit peace, then you have found the fruits of sadhana. from Gems of Wisdom from Shree Maa and Swami Satyananda Saraswati Copyright 1998 Devi Mandir Publications www.shreemaa.org

We are also witnesses to ways that many people heroically take the challege of working in the world in service to humanity.I very well remember having the good fortune getting the darshan of Mother Theresa in Calcutta in '96.It was at an orphanage and I got to see close up a being who was still very busy in selfless service even in the closing years of her life. She had much responsibilities and challeges to deal with in including the failings of the body. Her sadhana was her lifelong selfless service to humanity and the peace and serenity of her being was clearly displayed in her countenance. After darshan she handed me a card which said: The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace. Shree Maa says our sadhana it not just a spiritual practice, but a spiritual way of life. For me that thought is the key to how we can bridge the gap that sometimes exists when we sit down at our alters. We can chant with the idea that we are all empowered to bless this universe and carry that attitude with us throughout the day and not be deflected by pain and sufferings of the world.I thing we can also take a particular problem in our life or in the world and incorporate that into our vow(sankalpa)and bless it through the sincerity of our prayer and devotion. This way we can face all the challeges of our day, purify the attitude of the mind, have peace and serve the universe. Guest guest
Surath, Mother Theresa really embodies, for me the essence of service. When anyone speaks of karma yoga, Mother Theresa comes to my mind. She was a very great soul. One evening I went out for my walk. I used to walk and do my japa. This night was very beautiful. It was warm, the sky was clear, and the moon, though not full, was still large and very bright in the sky. I was out for only a few minutes when I looked up into the sky, and just to the left of the moon was a cloud exactly in the sillouette of a woman, either in a sari with a head scarf, or a nun in her habit. It was a profile, facing east, with the hands folded in the front at the waist. I looked, and wondered what it could mean. I asked "Who are you Mother?", but got no response, so I just watched for a few minutes, until a wind arose from the west and she slowly blew away into the eastern sky. I finished my walk; did my japa, and walked into my house. On the television was a special news report; it was Mother Theresa's funeral procession. Of course, I don't know what the exact time was of my sighting of the cloud, and of the begining of the procession in India, but as close as I could come at the time, I believe they occurred at the same time. I believe that cloud, a small thing in the scope of world events, was nevertheless God's small homage to the passing from this world of a very great soul. Jai Maa!
