A Miraculous Manifestation of LORD NARASIMHA*

Lord Narayana’s avatar as Sri Narasimha was an instantaneous response to the SOS Call from the young devotee Prahlada, It is but true that Lord Narayana in his manifestation as Sri Narasimha responds then and there to the calls of sincere devotees. Such a miraculous response came from the Lord in our own times when ardent devotees joined together in a tiny village in Tamil Nadu called NARASINGAPURAM and rose up as one man to restore and rebuild an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Narasimha. Built by the Vijayanagar dynasty of devoted rulers, the Narasingapuram Temple is a wonderful piece of architecture with beautiful pieces of sculpture. This shrine was earlier blessed by visits by The Kanchi Paramacharya and the 45th Jeeyar of Srimad Ahobila Matam Sri Vann Satagopa Yatheendra Maha Desikar.

It was a great pity that this wonderful shrine came to be in ruins and shambles. The beautiful piece of Vasantha Mantapam was sold off to an industrialist for just Rs.50,000 to be dismantled and reassembled in a resort run by him.

It was but a miracle that the villagers rose as one man and stopped this atrocious move to dismantle the historic piece of devotional expression of art. For resroring the Temple to its original glory, the devotees formed an organisation named Sri Lakshmi Narasiha Seva Trust under the leadership of Sri.R.Narasimhan. For erecting the Dwaja Sthambam (Flag Staff) of the Temple (as the original was found missing) a 53 feet tall wooden piece from the Amason forests of South America was located thanks to a miraculous dream that a devotee had of a ship sailing with logs of wood. On enquiry it was found that a ship laden with logs of wood from the Amazon had just docked in Chennai Port. An Industrialist of Chennai Sri,Navaneetha Krishnan bought a 53 Feet long wooden log and offered it to the Temple.

The Samprokshanam (Kumbhabhishekam) of thie rebuilt Temple has been scheduled o be held Sunday the 25th January 2007. But thee are a number of works yet to be completed for want of Funds. Devotees of the Lord in India and Abroad are requested contribute for this most sacred Yagna of rebuilding this ancient Temple.
