Guest guest
Bhaktivedanta Coaching Newsletter Interview with Aniruddha dasa, disciple of Jayadvaita Swami from the Bhaktivedanta Manor (UK). BCN: How did you find out about coaching? Aniruddha dasa: I first found out about coaching from a member of the temple community who came seeking spiritual guidance. This person has since become a good friend. I was helping this person spiritually with some issues when they said to me: "I would really like to be a coach". From there I began to understand the concept and practice of coaching. BCN: What training do you have as a coach? Ad: since you are dealing with peoples' lives, it is very important to be proffesionally trained. I have undergone training from the Newcastle College (Certificate and EDEXCEL-BTEC). I have also been trained by The Coaching Institute UK and by The New Insights, a world-class coach training school based in the UK. BCN: What qualities and skills have you acquired during your training? Ad: I have developed the skills to help people truly examine where they are in life at present, to help them develop a personal vision of where they would like to be in their lives, and to offer a high level of service providing all the tools and support they need to make sure they get there. BCN: Who are your clients and how many of them do you currently coach? Ad: My clients are usually proffesionals and I generally work with 3 to 5 clients at any given time, although there are no hard or fast rules to the number of clients I can help and work with. BCN: Does knowledge about coaching and coaching skills help you personally? How? Ad: Coaching has helped me become more focused on my life's mission of spiritually developing the congregation at the Bhaktivedanta Manor. It has also given me some good ideas on how to present Krsna conciousness to the people of England. BCN: Do you have your own coach? Ad: Yes, and a mentor-coach. BCN: What is for you most exciting in coaching? Ad: The most exciting thing is to see people grow and do things they previously thought not possible for them. BCN: Can coaching help ISKCON devotees? If so, how? Ad: Yes, by helping them to vastly improve areas of their life that are related to their Krsna conciousness. This is a very personal thing and I have experience that there are many devottees who do not need coaching. However, technically, coaching can help anyone. BCN: What are your coaching successes so far? Ad: The real success in coaching is the client's success. BCN: What is your most important message as a coach? Ad: Focus on what you want to happen in your life rather than what you don't want to happen. BCN: How can our readers contact you? Ad: Devottees may contact me on 079 4014 0721 or on a.lampitt (AT) btinternet (DOT) com.
