Guest guest
Namaste- I was reading through the Chandi again last night and I came across a verse that always gives me pause whenever I read it, or one like it. "And whoever recites the Chandi Pathah without knowledge or proper understanding, his soul will go to the darkness of hell. Of this there is no doubt." I certainly don't claim a vast understanding of the scriptures, but I would hope that if one is doing some sort of sadhana to the best of their ability, for their own betterment and enlightenment, that it would benefit them. The verse reads as though one must already have perfected knowledge of the text in order to have the right to work with it, and not only will the benefit be reduced, but they will be damned by doing so. Can someone please clarify the exact meaning of this phrase, and others like it that are found throughout scripture? Thank you, ~Devi~
Guest guest
Hi Devi, This question gets asked by everyone who begins to study the Chandi. Kind of scary, huh? Swamiji has said not to worry about it. If your intentions are to learn for the sake of devoted worship, there is no harm. That verse is there for those who would use the Chandi Path for selfish gain. (If that verse applied to all, the Chandi could never be recited. All who made the attempt would be cursed from the begining...) Jai Maa!
