"thAr amar kondaraiyum shenbaga mAlaiyum sAtrum

thillaiUrar tham bAgathu umai maindhane ulagEzhum

petra seer Abiramiandadhi eppOthum en chindhaiyuLLe

kAr amar mEni ganapathiye nirka katturaye"

ThAr amar Konraiyum = (from my rusty old tamil) Hair adorned with

honey filled (ThAr amar) konrai flowers

Shenbaga mAlaiyum = One adorned with a garland of Shenbaga flowers

ThillaiUrAr = One who resides in Thillai (Nataraja)

tham Bagathu = One who is a part of (ThillaiUrAr = Nataraja)

Umai maindhane = Son of Uma (who is part of Nataraja, vide supra)

kAr = Dark Rain cloud

amar mEni = Body (meni) like (dark rain clound)

Ganapathiye = Ganapthi (Vigneshwaran - as this stanza is a protective

chant = kavacam)

UlagEzhum petra = Creator of the 7 worlds (Abirami)

seer abirami andhAthi = this poem of andhathi attributed to the

Beautiful (seer) abirami (seer here is a tamil word to be pronounced

like "see")

eppothum = let always

en chindhayulle = be in my mind

As a protective chant, the poet (abirami bhattar) asks for protection

from Vigneswara to let his (poet's mind) be filled with the thoughts

of Abirami.

andhAdhi is a form of tamil poem along with kural (couplets), venbA

(typically of 4 lines) etc. Andhadhi (if I remember correctly) is 4

lines per stanza as in venbA (may be gramatically different

constitution). But, in andhAdhi, a following stanza starts with the

same ending word of the previous one.

The name andhAdhi can be split as andham + Adhi, which means andham

(end) of the first stanza becomes Adhi (start) of the following

stanza.

PS: I will try to provide translation as abi posts more of this

poetry. As per Mahaswamigal of KAnchi, abirami andhAdhi is LS and SL

combined and can/may be chanted by (tamil) people who have less

knowledge of Sanskrit (in which LS and SL are).
