Guest guest
"freshly minced spices" is a strange term, probably stemming from the fact that English is not Muniraja prabhu's first language. What Srila Prabhupada actually said is that cooks should use WHOLE spices and NEVER pre-ground spices because they are "very bad". However one caveat to and addendum about Srila Prabhupada's directions is that spices grown with 'Goverment Gobar' (Indian terminology for pesticides and toxic fertilizers) are just as poisonous and detrimental to our bodies & health, as are vegetables and fruits grown with such poisons. ys Haridasa vesyadasa ======================================================= Our Humble Obeisances Jaya Srila Prabhupada H.H.Mahanidhi Swami mentioned in the lecture that previously freshly minced spices used to be the standard in our Deitykitchens.(Order from Srila Prabhupada?) He said that even good quality karmi-restaurants use freshly minced spices, that makes the difference in taste and people like to go there. Since we cook for the Supreme Lord, should be our standard also. Your servant Muniraja dasa

It sounds like this refers to "freshly ground spices" (ground cumin, coriander etc.) as opposed to ground spices already packaged in shops. They are much more aromatic and free from other additives such as flour (which may be added for bulk). your servant, Karunika dasi
Guest guest
Minced means making a semi liqid paste using a hand mortor made of stone. It is not a freshly ground dry powder. solai - "Giridhari Dasa" <giridhari.grs (AT) intnet (DOT) mu> "Agriculture and the Environment" <Agriculture.and.the.Environment (AT) pamho (DOT) net>; "Cooking Seminar" <Cooking.Seminar (AT) pamho (DOT) net>; "(Arcana) Deity Worship" <Deity.Worship (AT) pamho (DOT) net> Cc: <laksmi (AT) kolumbus (DOT) fi>; <avadhutacandra (AT) (DOT) co.uk>; <tapodivyam (AT) harekrishna (DOT) fi>; <agatakaukua (AT) luukku (DOT) com> Wednesday, December 13, 2006 12:12 PM Re: Fresh spices >> "freshly minced spices" is a strange term, probably stemming from the >> fact >> that English is not Muniraja prabhu's first language. > > It sounds like this refers to "freshly ground spices" (ground cumin, > coriander etc.) as opposed to ground spices already packaged in shops. > They > are much more aromatic and free from other additives such as flour (which > may be added for bulk). > your servant, > Karunika dasi >
