Guest guest
Vanakam everyone, I need some explanation and hope someone could guide me on the matter. As long as I know Kartika month is specially for Lord Murugan. Can i know what the Margali month special for? For which god is it and what types of prayer one should do? When, I asked a friend of mine, she told me that its special month for god Amman and the unmarried girls have to do prayers early in the morning to get good husband. Can some one help me to light me with more info on the prayer? Thanks and best regards

Im told the month of Aadi is specially auspicious for DEVI. Most temples have prayers practically every day from morning till night. Then not forgetting the Navarathri, when DEVI is said to be more approachable. [ which also means she is in extremely good mood ]. Wanna to get good husband why must wait for one special month. Heck! pray to her everyday and ask for it. Which mother do not want her daughter to marry a good husband. But again, to get potential good husband you must be potential good wife to yes! As ive told some young man sometime back : Be a Shiva and your Parvati will gravitate to you. So for the ladies : Be a Parvati and your Shiva will come for you. Guest guest
OM SHAKTHI Hope you may know the story of ANDAL, who wanted to attain Lord Vishu as her Husband. She observed one month VRATHAM. She statred early morning by taking bath applying RANGOLI in front of the house and sang THIRUPPAVAI in the praise of Lord Vishu. At the end of the one month fasting and prayers Lord Vishu appeared in front of her and took her as his bride. So still young LAdies who are in search of a good husband still follow the path of Andal. Even this month is for Goddess AMABL, and Vishu. Guest guest
Hi Anuratha , Well I am telling what I know ........ In BG krishna told that MASANAM MARGASIRSHOHAM.... that means he is the form of MARGASHIRSHA.......which tamilians call by margali ..... well margasiram not just for amman but for Lord Vishnu aswell ......and even Lord Muruga.....and even Lord Dattatreeya.. Well Coming to Amman Details .... Lakshmi likes Margasiram a lot and there is a vratam that is observed on every thrusday of the Margasira masa for goddess Lakshmi....There is a puram for that as " MARGASIRA LAKSHMI PURANAM " on that ....It very long and takes a long mail to explain... Coming to Dattatreya ....... On the Margaasira Bahula Astami Anagha Vratam is performed .......Anagha is Datta's Wife ( Goddess Lakshmi ) ...Datta he himself narrated the vrata vidhanam to his priya Shishya ( Karthaveera ) .......Anagha vratam is observed to ged rid of the Kali doshams and the sins that we do in our daily life......coming to Murugan ......Margasira Sukla Sasti is observed as the Subramanya Well The Last but the main reason that adds mahathyam to this month is because of VISHNU. Visnu wish after sleeping for 4 months which are observed as the Chathurmasam (ashadam to Kartheekam ...Ekadasi ) get ups on Kartheeka Dwadasi and it is the first month (MASA ) he is awake from his YOGA NIDRA .....During this season (MASAM ) ANDAL a great vaishnaviate ( consert of SRI RANGA ) ...did Kathyaini Vratham to get SRI RANGA as her husband ......TIRUPPAVAI the pasuram by her are WORLD famoous and are very beautifull....She is the mother of BEAUTY and ...thus till now unmarried gals observe that KATHYAANI vratam .A single mail is not sufficient to explain ANDAL's history.. As hinduism considers this month as the most significant month and there is a tradition that the KOLLAM or the Rangoli that is made every day in front of the HOUSE it is made with RICE FLOUR so that if even ANTS eat that .......offering to the ANTS in this month gives VAIKUNTA PADAM ....that is the greatness of this MONTH ...... OM SHAKTHI
Guest guest
According to Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami the month of markali is dedicated to Lord Pillaiyar (Ganesha). You can find the info toward the bottom of this page: http://www.himalayanacademy.com/resources/books/lg/lg_ch-15.html , "Anuratha A/P Damothran" <anuratha wrote: > > Vanakam everyone, > > I need some explanation and hope someone could guide me on the matter. > As long as I know Kartika month is specially for Lord Murugan. Guest guest
Vanakkam ellorukkum My understanding of Maargazhi month is as under. This is also called Dhanur Maasa and the Tamizh month of Maargazhi and Dhanur Maasa are one and the same. It is the period when Sun traverses through the Zodiac sign of Dhanush. Incidentally this doesn't tally with the Telugu month of Maargasirsha as they follow lunar calendar. Special significance for me is the prasadam that temples and other congregations of devotees offer at the end of Bhajan which they sing while going around the temple or the streets of a locality early in the morning, say, between 5 and 6. There is no fun in going on the rounds with them in the cold morning; but you must develop the ability to time your wake up call so that you join the group exactly when prasadam comes - hot pongal, puliyodarai or sakkarai pongal. It is simply great in the early morning cold. Probably that's why Krishna said, 'Maasaanaam maargasirsho aham'. Guest guest
Anti Vaishnava = ? If the animosity is towards the Vaishavites.....that is one's personal preference (may be due to experiences). But if it is towards Vishu....here is something to think about. Among Devi worshippers, the list of Masters is as follows. Shiva, Narayana, Brahma, Manmatha, Skandha, Nandhikeswara, Indra, Manu, Chandra, Kubera, Agasthya and Dhurvasa. , kartik gaurav <omkaaraya wrote: > > Am I the only anti Vaishnava on this group? > > > Krisshnan <nk27560 > > Thursday, 14 December, 2006 8:38:35 PM > Re: need information about Margali month! > > > OM SHAKTHI > > Hope you may know the story of ANDAL, who wanted to > > attain Lord Vishu as her Husband. She observed one > > month VRATHAM.
