Guest guest
Dear Yaduraja Prabhu, PAMHO. AGTSP! > I asked if you could please prove that I have misrepresented Srila > Prabhupada on the issue of siksa and diksa. Instead of proving this you > start: Here is the proof again: On December 5 you wrote that the process of diksa may take many lifetimes. So far you have not backed up this statement by a quote. > Oops, have to stop you right there. It is not me who defines diksa in this > way, it is Srila Prabhupada: You wrote that the dictionary meaning of "define" is "to state precisely the meaning of (words, terms etc)". You emphasized "precise" by adding the word "very" which in this context means "precise". So you actually said that 'imparting knowledge' is the precise precise meaning of 'diksa', or in other words, there is no other meaning. Please correct my if I am wrong. > Also, why do you find it so hard to understand that the function of the > bona fide spiritual master, either siksa or diksa, is to impart > transcendental knowledge? The question is not whether or not I understand it. The question is whether or not you have confirmed by a quote what you are saying. "The process of speaking in spiritual circles is to say something upheld by the scriptures. One should at once quote from scriptural authority to back up what he is saying." (Bg 17.15 purport) The current status of the debate is as follows: You claim that Srila Prabhupada remains the sole diksa guru for ISKCON. But you have not confirmed this claim by a statement from Srila Prabhupada explicitly saying that he remains the sole diksa guru for ISKCON. Rather you presented some other statements by Srila Prabhupada and observations through imperfect senses, and then you (who do not know perfectly what diksa is) presented your conclusion (drawn by your imperfect brains). You claim that Srila Prabhupada did not authorize anyone to be a diksa guru in ISKCON although you don't know how a devotee is authorized to be a diksa guru in ISKCON. "Just see how rascaldom. You do not know something perfectly, and still, you are talking about it." (Lecture, Bg 1.45-46, Aug 1, 1973) If you do not know something perfectly, then simply repeat exactly the words of Srila Prabhupada. "But if we try artificially to explain sastra in our own words, there is every danger of interpretation and speculation. First the student must be able to repeat exactly the words of the guru" (Letter to Bhakta dasa, Nov 20, 1971) ys Ramakanta dasa
