Guest guest
Dear Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. In the material world, every person wants love and happiness. As we all know, 99.9% of the people on this planet are unfortunately seeking this love and happiness in the wrong places and in the wrong ways. Sridhama Mayapur is a special place where genuine love and happiness can easily be found because in this dhama, which manifests ever-increasing sakti as Kali-yuga progesses, devotional service is easier to perform and such devotional service benefits the devotee a thousand times more than if performed elsewhere. During Gaura Purnima 2007: The Festival of Loving Exchanges, you can associate with wonderful devotees from all over the world, renew old friendships, and begin new ones. Their merciful Lordships, Sri Sri Panca-tattva, bestow innumerable blessings on pilgrims in Their transcendental land of Mayapur. As you can probably guess from the name the Mayapur Festival Com-mittee has given the 2007 Gaura Purnima festival, this year's theme is the six kinds of loving exchanges between devotees. These exchanges dramatically enhance our love for Krishna and His devotees. We sincerely hope you will share the love and happiness that will abound during this year's festival. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. As far as my small part in the festival is concerned, the scheduling of free seminars. I invited Manidhara Prabhu and Vijaya Prabhu who traditionally speak on the glories of book distribution. Vijaya Prabhu agreed and will speak on "Determination, Compassion, and Humility on Book Distribution". Manidhara Prabhu is not certain he is coming to Mayapur, but will be glad to do a seminar on book distribution if he comes. If you have other devotees you would like me to invite to speak on book distribution, please let me know. Philosophically speaking, book distribution appears to me to be giving gifts in charity and the donations given to the distributor count as receiving charitable gifts. In this way, the general masses engage in loving exchanges with devotees and advance in devotional service. Perhaps some of the seminar givers might elaborate on this point in their seminars. Guest guest
Krishna-kripa, My obeisances. Jaya Prabhupäda. Kindly note Akruranatha's response to this discussion at http://www.dandavats.com/?p=2504. He wrote, "There should perhaps be some organized effort to present this 'family business' to all the devotees who might not go out of their way to attend a book distribution seminar." Thus, I urge you, as one of the organizers, to arrange for the most popular, influential ISKCON gurus to conduct at least one seminar on book distribution for all festival attendees. You cite loving exchanges through giving and receiving books. However, no bona-fide acharya in the Chaitanya line would say, "Just chant as a loving exchange with Krishna, but don't worry about how many names you chant." We are accountable for our (vaidhi) bhakti. Specifically, we in ISKCON are accountable for the amount of money (laxmi) we collectively remit to the BBT. Currently, it is about as much as a single MacDonald's makes.
