Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

In the material world, every person wants love and happiness. As we all

know, 99.9% of the people on this planet are unfortunately seeking this love

and happiness in the wrong places and in the wrong ways.

Sridhama Mayapur is a special place where genuine love and happiness can

easily be found because in this dhama, which manifests ever-increasing sakti

as Kali-yuga progesses, devotional service is easier to perform and such

devotional service benefits the devotee a thousand times more than if

performed elsewhere.

During Gaura Purnima 2007: The Festival of Loving Exchanges, you can

associate with wonderful devotees from all over the world, renew old

friendships, and begin new ones. Their merciful Lordships, Sri Sri

Panca-tattva, bestow innumerable blessings on pilgrims in Their

transcendental land of Mayapur.

As you can probably guess from the name the Mayapur Festival Com-mittee has

given the 2007 Gaura Purnima festival, this year's theme is the six kinds of

loving exchanges between devotees. These exchanges dramatically enhance our

love for Krishna and His devotees. We sincerely hope you will share the love

and happiness that will abound during this year's festival.

All,

Why is there so little on book distribution? Are loving exchanges a symptom

of book distribution's decline? What use is sanga if it doesn't lead to

bhajana-kriya? What use is bhajana-kriya if it doesn't lead to increased

book distribution?

Krishna-kripa,

My obeisances. Jaya Prabhupäda.

Kindly note Akruranatha's response to this discussion at

http://www.dandavats.com/?p=2504. He wrote, "There should perhaps be some

organized effort to present this 'family business' to all the devotees who

might not go out of their way to attend a book distribution seminar." Thus,

I urge you, as one of the organizers, to arrange for the most popular,

influential ISKCON gurus to conduct at least one seminar on book

distribution for all festival attendees.

You cite loving exchanges through giving and receiving books. However, no

bona-fide acharya in the Chaitanya line would say, "Just chant as a loving

exchange with Krishna, but don't worry about how many names you chant." We

are accountable for our (vaidhi) bhakti. Specifically, we in ISKCON are

accountable for the amount of money (laxmi) we collectively remit to the

BBT. Currently, it is about as much as a single MacDonald's makes.
