Guest guest
Hello Everyone - Srini asked those who are studying the Kashyapa Sutras to write a paragraphs worth of an answer to the following two questions. 1) What does Guru mean to me? 2) How has he/she changed my life? My answer came out more as a free verse poem than prose, so please forgive the "poetic license" <bashful grin> Guru is Teacher Friend Confidant Someone who knows me better than I know myself An example of how to live Not limited to one form or expression Undeniable How have I changed? She has opened me up to a whole new spiritual world of possibility I now see with new eyes She helps me to feel what I only had intellectualized in the past I wasn't planning on or searching for a guru Western nature spirituality a path known as Wicca is what I practice - then and now Personal definition: Guru is a spiritual teacher who you've made some form of commitment to. East & West Guru & Disciple Blessings The Kali/Durga Goddess complex has always been a part of my soul swimming in, out and around my neo-pagan sensibilities as I celebrate the seasons and life. I met who was to become my guru Amritanandamayi Ma, Kali Ma Herself, back in 1990 and in 1992 took mantra diksha. Ammachi speaks directly to the heart and since I wasn't going to become an ashramite I believe she sent me to other spiritual teachers who could speak to my mind as well as my heart and help me develop a spiritual discipline full of bhava. In the mid- 90's this was through the meeting of Saraswati Ma in the form of Sri Karunamayi Ma loving Mother and wise counselor who teases the mind with this "really cool" thing called meditation. I visit her every time she comes to southern California. Also around this time there was a meeting in San Diego, CA with Parvati/Shiva – Ardhanarishwara Her/Him-self in the forms of Shee Maa & Swami Satchitananda Saraswati. They of course added another "really cool" thing to what I call my sadhana and this is the joy of chanting and access to scriptures. This satsang continues with the meeting of other holy people through their devotees too numerous to tell and now with the cyber-satsang of the Devi Mandir website there it is any place any time 24/7. Thank you Devi Mandir family, the gurus, rishis and all the God-filled bhakta/karma/jnana devotees I've met on the way. Jai Ma!
