Maha Mritjunyaja help, please

Nanda, I don't know if Swamiji would have time to answer this, or

maybe you or someone else can chime in.

My mother's leukemia is really starting to worsen very much, right

now at the holiday season. I am very scared; I wasn't prepared to

watch this sudden decline, when I thought we would have at least

several more years with her.

I thought of having the Maha Mritjunjaya Homa performed for her,

because two years ago -- almost to this day -- having that homa

performed was of such help to my brother (he did not recover, but he

was allowed to peacefully pass over without further agony the day

after the homa was performed).

However, homa prices at the sites I have used in the past in India

have become so much more expensive that I can't afford the homa. Is

there something I can do myself, with devotion, that Lord Shiva

would accept as similar?

Somehow, just chanting the MM mantra doesn't seem enough. Is there

a significant number of repetitions that is suggested? I know how

to perform the Beginner Shiva Puja, and thought that maybe

performing the puja with repetition of the Maha Mritjunjaya mantra

in the place where we would normally do 108 repetitions of Om namah

shivaya might be appropriate . . . is there anything you or Swamiji

(or others who are knowledgeable on puja) would suggest?

Thanks for any help on this -- It's such a blessing to have the Devi

Mandir group to turn to --

Namaste Rosetta,

Swami once said, better to spend time in prayer than worry. All

prayers help the sick and their families. Worry does not.

In my humble opinion, your prayers are most powerful. Maa and Swami

have taught us to have a direct communion and relationship with the

Lord. We should cultivate that relationship and have faith that He

always hears and helps us.

Puja to Lord Shiva is so powerful and the MM mantra is His healing

mantra. May I suggest that you perform the puja and then the MM

mantra. Make a commitment to do as much as possible each day. Lord

Shiva hears the prayers of the devoted. His merciful hand is always

ready to caress the fevered brow and settle the weary heart.

Each time, before you begin, ask Shiva to hear your prayer and do

whatever is for the highest good for your Mother, and for you, and all

her caregivers.

And, pray to Shree Maa and Swami, and ask for their help to become

calm and strong so you can help your Mother. They will hear your

prayers and help your Mother too.

Also, put her name on the Devi Mandir prayer club, and purchase the MM

mantra CD from the devi Mandir web site, and have it playing on a CD

player 24 / 7, very low volumn. Maa said it creates a very powerful

healing vibration in the atmosphere. She has it playing in Her room

always.

I know I will pray for you both.

The Lord is with you. Take His love and Blessings.

Jai Ma, Jai Swami

love
