Guest guest
2] About Nirmala Devi ; Now how does this whole issue get started. Parishant's the `culprit' [smiles] He asked : Well Who is Nirmala Devi? She said she is Devi incarnation? Is that true? Now I really like venkat bhasksr response. He said : She is a preacher of Sahaja Yoga which is supposed to be a simpler process for awakening kundalini. I was in a sahaja yoga group for about 6 months a long time back. The group practises some movements to awaken the chakras. Nirmala devi is the wife of a very senior officer in Indian diplomatic service who was in London and settled there .I think what she basically says is that every one can feel the pleasure of awakening of kundalini and also feel better, improve their health etc through these simpler methods which she has developed after extensive study and research of various yoga Sastras Reincarnation? very difficult to answer in a country so ready to believe in reincarnations. Every week on TV ( mainly regional channels) I find at least one person in some village or other claiming to be a reincarnation . Nirmala devi however has a very Strong and commotted following mainly in north " Why do I like this response, because Shri Venkat makes Shri Nirmala Devi almost like the other Mother such as Ammachi, Karumayi etc.. They are indeed Devi manifestated. To me they are all Mothers in their own right, all bestows with special gift and uses that gift to help humanity. That is why I have nothing against them. My contribution to this thread begins with : From Shakta perspective all Women are the manifestation of Devi. Even for Sri Ramakrishna, to whom all women were manifestations of the Divine Mother. Thus Shakti Puja like the Kumari is considered one of the most powerful form of puja. It is when you are worshipping the Devi in flesh and blood. The suddenly this young man comes in with this statement : [a] Now, about whether She is the Incarnation of the Devi. Shri Mataji says we should not believe whatever we are told about spirituality but we should verify it on our experience and then accept it as a fact and not as a blind faith. Yes,Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi is the Incarnation of the Goddess and this is not my belief but my knowledge. What you say maybe true in some sense but I do not think it is so generally. I mean, how can it be every young girl to be equal with Durga , Parvati, Saraswati or Laksmi? Can they cure diseases? Can they give en masse Kundalini Awakening? Can they teach Shri Nirmala Vidya? Young girl maybe a manifestation of Shri Maha Devi but they are not Maha Devi Herself in complete form and with complete Powers. [c] I in no way insult your rites but I( sent an email about whether or not Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi is or not an incarnation of Shri Adi Shakti and Nora replied to my email saying that every girl is a Kumari! Then, I replied to state that while every girl is a manifestation of the Devi, that does not mean Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi is not something special but She is just like any girl. and [c] tells me he have no knowledge at all what kumari pooja is all about. We all assume he does, but he actually does not know. I responded futher : I do not question the so call godliness status of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. Ammachi devotee too like to belive Ammachi is a God to them. Heck! if you all wants to believe she is a God, go ahead. I have no problem with that. We believe our guru too is like god to us. Even my own guru always remind me : I am a nobody. Just an ordinary person. So whats the problem. I am responding to Parishant and if you read carefully my statement is a general statement stating the fact of our shakta tradition as how we see women and some of our practices. Because please remember you are in a shakta group and this is our basic philisophy : ALL women are the manifestation of DEVI. Then Dennis said something rather strange" It is true that every true Guru is an Incarnation of the Divine but Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi is even higher than that." We do not invent this whole concept of Guru as the manifestation of DEVI. Its in the sastras. Somehow I know many Guru are not comfortable with this. Even my own guru told me many times : Do not put me on the pedestral. So, how can one be higher than the Guru who is also the manifestation of DEVI? What can be higher than the DIVINE? From my understanding the highest form is BRAHMAN. And Brahman from my understanding is formless and genderless. So how can Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi be considered as Brahman? Again Shri Venkat brings out a very beautiful statement : A person who gained knowledge of any subject including kundalini and preaching/transmitting this knowledge is Acharya. If a female, she is respectfully addressed as Mata. One can be a great teacher without becoming a God. Great sages like Vyasa, Vashista to Adi Sankara followed by some others did not claim they were Gods. Even Rama behaved as a good example of a warrior king and not an all knowing, all powerful god. Our traditions like Kumari puja teach humility. Even a professor of say physics may bow on a particular day to a Kumari. It does not mean the Kumari knows more about physics than the professor. It is good that Mata Nirmala Devi is doing great work in spreading our ancient knowledge. She is not an anti thesis to our tradition. She is part of our ethos ranging from the questioning Sankhya to strong simple faith that excludes every thing else. Suddenly today he said this : About me being a Sahaja Yogi, well, Sahaja Yoga is just one of the aspects of the Goddess, and while I am a Sahaja Yoggi, I am dedicated not the Goddess Adi Shakti Shri MAtaji Nirmala Devi. Am I missing something here? Something is really really not right!
