Guest guest
Religious groups demand Nepal be declared Hindu state again Kathmandu, Dec 14: Around 500 Hindu activists, mostly supporters of the King, are meeting here demanding that Nepal be declared a Hindu state again. Representatives from over 100 religious groups attended the three-day meeting which began today and asked the Government to withdraw its declaration on May 18 to convert Nepal into a secular state. Nepal should remain a the Hindu state because we have been pursuing Hindu culture and traditions since ancient time, said World Hindu Federation executive member hem bahadur Karki, who is also the former upper house member nominated by the King. "We should retain both the Hindu Kingdom and the Hindu King," he argued. If there can be Muslim and Buddhist countries in the world, why can't Nepal remain as the world's only Hindu Kingdom, asked Krishna Murari Gautam, one of the organizers. The religious convention is being organised by the Sanatan Hindu Rastra Nepal and Gorakshya Jagaran Abhiyan.
