Sat Nam!

I credit Tulsi for my wonderfully strong immune system. I ingest it in some

form daily. ..and "YES" to chewing Tulsi leaves! It is very delicious. I

recently handed out this leaflet to my clients and students as use of Tulsi is

especially needed in the winter months. If anyone on the list would like some

Tulsi seeds contact me off list and I will gladly share. I have many plants

growing in my Ayurveda and Meditation Garden. They are very easy plants to grow.

Blessings in Health!

The Tulsi or Holy Basil plant is widely used for its Ayurvedic medicinal

value.

Consider adding this versatile herb to your Medicine Cabinet.

Tulsi is also known as "the elixir of life" as it promotes longevity. The

plant's extracts can be used to prevent and cure many illnesses and everyday

ailments like common cold, headaches, cough, flu, ear-ache, fever, colic pain,

digestive disorders, respiratory complaints, and high blood pressure. It

boosts the immune function while alleviating stress.

Tulsi contains Vitamin C, Carotene, Calcium, and Phosphorous. It is an

anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant and a skin healer.

Recent research has shown that Tusli inhibits histamine release, therefore

it is helpful in relieving allergy symptoms. Holy Basil balances mind, nerves,

and emotions. Tulsi Spray protects against environmental toxins and

pollution by purifying the atmosphere. Simply chewing a few tulsi leaves each day is

of great benefit to the immune system!

Dear Guru Rattana,

I believe you could ask for it by either name and get what you want.

Tulsi-Ocimum Sanctum is a member of the mint family Lamiacea and a "cousin" to the

Culinary Basil. Both hail from India and contain healing chemical properties.

Tulsi or Holy Basil has tradition in Ayurvedic Medicine and is mentioned many

times in Ancient Scripture.

>From the Padmapurana; Lord Shiva tells the sage Narada, " Oh Narada,

wherever Tulsi grows there is no misery. She is the holiest of the holy. Wherever

the breeze blows her fragrance, there is purity. Vishnu showers blessings on

those who worship and grow Tulsi. Tulsi is Sacred because Brahma resides in the

roots, Vishnu resides in the stems and leaves, and Rudra resides in the

flowering tops."

The chemical composition and constituents are complex and have undergone

extensive research and analysis, but the real healing lies in the spiritual

properties.

In Ayurvedic Medicine we believe Tulsi creates Sattva (purity) and lightness

in the body.

You have remained in my heart and prayers,

Guru Ravi
