Guest guest
Dear Guru Rattana, I believe you could ask for it by either name and get what you want. Tulsi-Ocimum Sanctum is a member of the mint family Lamiacea and a "cousin" to the Culinary Basil. Both hail from India and contain healing chemical properties. Tulsi or Holy Basil has tradition in Ayurvedic Medicine and is mentioned many times in Ancient Scripture. >From the Padmapurana; Lord Shiva tells the sage Narada, " Oh Narada, wherever Tulsi grows there is no misery. She is the holiest of the holy. Wherever the breeze blows her fragrance, there is purity. Vishnu showers blessings on those who worship and grow Tulsi. Tulsi is Sacred because Brahma resides in the roots, Vishnu resides in the stems and leaves, and Rudra resides in the flowering tops." The chemical composition and constituents are complex and have undergone extensive research and analysis, but the real healing lies in the spiritual properties. In Ayurvedic Medicine we believe Tulsi creates Sattva (purity) and lightness in the body. You have remained in my heart and prayers, Guru Ravi
