Guest guest
Namaste Mary, I would agree with what you are saying. However, there many new developments in science, particularly physics, that are fascinating and could potentially transform our ordinary ways of perceiving Nature. Specifically, in the newspaper article we discussed earlier, the writer states that some physicists are now thinking that there are parallel universes to coincide with all the possiblities of our present reality. If this were the case, we can take solace that suffering as we know it could take on a new meaning. Why? Because there could be other parallel universes in which we are enjoying life as we know it! So, we can take heart that what we see is not necessarily what it appears to be! Or, we can ask: who's running this show anyway? For this reason, I appreciate what the Gita is trying to say when it states, "Be without the gunas." That is, we should not be overly attached with the apparent worldly phenomenon. As such, we should perform actions being established in yoga, or the True Self. Further, the Shrimad Bhagavatam appears to be addressing this possiblity of other universes. For example, there is a story which states that, when Vishnu sleeps, he spontaneously creates new universes as he breathes out. At the same token, he easily dissolves other universes as he inhales.
