Thoughts at the end of the year (for John and all)

Hi John!

As a long time avid fan of most things Star Trek, I've

enjoyed many years watching parallel universes and

alternative outcomes. But everytime they had one of

those episodes, the main point tended to be that they

were stuck in the 'current' universe and so they had

to get on the ball and do whatever they needed to do

in this universe.

And I've got to say I'm a fan of that viewpoint.

I'm stuck in THIS body and THESE circumstances. So I

want to change what I can change and accept what I

must accept and I'm finding that much easier to do

when I stop kicking myself for past mistakes and stop

dreaming of possible future outcomes.

I find that the RESULTS come from a total immersion

into the NOW. Making minute by minute choices that

actually build my dream future (without worrying if it

will actually materialize), and minute by minute

releasing of the whisper of failures that the past

tries to bind me with.

And I've gotta say that's a darned hard job. Requires

such total concentration to really do it right. A

detachment, shall we say.

But I'm finding that the company of like minded

friends really helps. I have one terrifically

wonderful friend that has helped me make more strides

towards my own fulfillment than I think I would have

made on my own.

And that's one benefit I've also received from this

list over time. That you all have such great insights

and such great heart that knowing you all keeps me on

my course when I start to stray a wee bit too close to

the couch and the TV and other past black holes.

And couldn't there be another explanation of Vishnu's

slumber? That with each breath, each NOW, we can

destroy the hold of the past (one existing universe)

and create the reality of the future (one new

universe)?

May we all make great strides in our own paths before

Vishnu breathes us in!

Mary
