Guest guest
A TREAT TO DIE HARD RITUALISTS There has been a long debate on 'Sandhyavandhanam' in the groups. No, this is not for or against the arguments. The seventh pAsuram talks of kAsu and piRappu. This refers to the ornaments worn by gOpikAs Sri ThiruNArAyaNapuram Ai jananAchAryar's nAlayirappadi kAsum-piRappum: BrAhmaNar sandhyA vEaLayilEa pUNul idumAp pOlEA- ivargaLukku AbaraNam pUNa vEaNum engai. The commentator likens the ornaments of these maidens with that of Brahmins who wear 'yagjnOpavEtham'when they perform sandhyavandhanam. What does it mean? Wearing 'pUNUl' when doing sandhi? What about other times. Sri Madhurai Arangarajan clariifes after consulting from Scholars from ThriunArAyaNapuram. Those days, Brahmins used to wear new yagjnOpavetham daily. Like that the gOpikAs wear new ornaments daily. Can anybody think of this now>? dasan vanamamalai padmanabhan
