The elventh pAsuram of thiruppAvai mentions of a maiden from a home where svadgarmam is followed meticulosuly.

The twelfth pAsuram talks of maiden from a home where the person is always with Sri krshNA neglecting his svadhramam.

Now, which is correct? The following of svadhrmam or neglecting?

This is anlaysed by the commentator.

Just going on giving meanings is a dictionary or thesarus.

Analysing, coherently, corroborating and explaining with evidence is the hallmark of a good commentator.

SvAmi Azhagiya MaNavALap perumAL nAyanAr doe exactly this

Following ones duties -svadharamam- is not the means to attain Him.

Neglecting ones duties is also not the means

Neglecting and take refuge in Him is the appropriate one.

Following the rituals/duties as per ones svadharmam is not the means. Leaving/neglecting them is also not the means.

Taking HIm as the ultimate refuge exclusively is the right one.

This is avathArikai for 'kaNaithiLam kaTrerumai' and The vyAkyAna karthA' words will

prove beyond doubt he is indeed a genius.

Dear Sriman Padmanabhan,

Thanks for the insights. I have also seen your educative posts on

the same topic in acharya.org.

After seeing meanings given elsewhere, I feel that someone should

take up giving the meanings based on vyAkhyAnams, briefly

highlighting the symbolism. I am not qualified myself to take up

that kainkaryam:)
