Notes: 1. A merchant who was promised by his brother-in-law to give one of his daughters for him to marry, was continuously cheated by the father. The youngest of the daughters unable to bear him being cheated every time came out of the house with him to get married. The honest youth who were upholding their dignity before marriage, were sleeping in a hall at marugal. In the darkness a snake bit the merchant and he died. The young girl who lost the person whom she thought is the hold for her life, pleaded to the Lord of thirumarugal so.
