caDaiyAnai evvuyirkkum thAyAnaic caN^karanaic cacikaNTa mavuliyAnai

viDaiyAnai vEdhiyanai veNNIRRAnai viravAthAr puram mUnRum eriyac ceRRa

paDaiyanaip paN^gayaththu mEvinAnum pAmbaNaiyil thuyinRAnum paravum kOlam

Meaning:

 

The One of twined hair, Mother of every soul, Meritorious, Crowned with moon,

One Who has the bull, vedin, Smeared in white ash,

One with the weapon that conquered burning the three cities of the opponents,

One Who has the form hailed by the one on the lotus and one sleeping on the bed of serpent

- Him, started to sing as, "Oh Lord! Is the misery of this nice lady bearable?"

Notes:

 

1. cambandhar saw the plight of the lady who has been hailing God

all through the night unable to bear the loss of her fiance.

He sang the Lord "caDaiyAy enumAL" and the merchant came

back to life. cambandhar got them lead the glorious married life.
