Guest guest
Are Kali and Shiva baddha jivas or are they liberated devotees of God Vishnu? Thank you for any answers, Robert Reid.
Guest guest
Mr. Reid, It is said that the permanent residents of Paramapadam include two kinds of souls: the nitya sooris (the ever free), whom the Lord has selected to remain with Him Eternally, and the muktas, whom the Lord has chosen to save. These souls are, like all souls, at the Lord's bidding to engage in His Universe as He sees fit. But, since He has chosen them to be with Him, it is said that they generally do not leave Vaikuntam. Consequently, anything outside of this Supreme Abode is left for the Baddha Jivatmas, the conditioned souls, who spend a limited time within their bodies and engage in activities that He feels conducive for them. The abode of Shiva-Parvathi (Kali) and other deities are different than Paramapadam, so it only is fitting to regard them as Baddha Jivatmas, as well. Along with this, Srimad Bhagavatham is quite clear that the life span of their bodies is also limited, providing validation that they do not reside with the Supreme. adiyen
